boost levels. . .

There is no substitute for the full turbo-back 3" stainless exhaust by GHL like myself and many others have. If you are going for performance, you need to start at the exhaust, especially the S-pipe. The stock Callaway S-pipe is restrictive, thus makes it harder for the motor to exhaust air. I have a manual boost controller set to 9 - 10 psi with the GHL exhaust and a Injen CAI and to be honest, I love the way it feels. Ask people that ride with me... it's pretty quick. I will upgrade to a bigger SMIC or possibly a FMIC. Not sure yet.
I am gonna have to disagree with the s-pipe being all that restrictive. I know it makes since it has bends and everything, but I have Vibrants s-pipe back and I used corksports s-pipe, didnt feel any different with that s-pipe opposed to the callaway. I know it has the same bends in it where the GHL does not use the same lines, but it had a larger diameter and smoother internal surface which should have shown a nice gain, but I didn't feel a difference and if you believe the rule that you cant feel anything under 5-7 hp then I would say it had little effect. That s-pipe sheared in half, got it replaced and sold it, put the stock s-pipe back on and put the money regained from the s-pipe into an electronic cutout and I really felt a difference with that, loud but fast.

The Corksport s-pipe is pieced together and welded... the GHL is one smooth flow bend, thus being less restrictive. I don't think the money spent on either s-pipe is worth it but if you were going to upgrade, might as well go with the less restrictive one eh? Not sure about others but my car feels much different after I put my exhaust on... but that was long ago... can't remember what stock feels like. :D

yeah, I knew GHL was a different design, did you change your entire exhaust at one time? I had the Vibrant on for a long time, then added the s-pipe, thats why i was saying the s-pipe didn't seem as restrictive as many think. I know yours is a straighter pipe, and I am hopefully making a better pipe soon using v clamps, we'll see how it works out.

Ya I bought the entire turboback system and installed at one time so I can't really compare to having pieced an ehaust together.

i work at a mazdaspeed dealership with certified techs...on stock motor you can spike up to 13.1 lbs and still be safe!
na ur wrong i leave the vac. line off my wastegate n run about 83.2psi but at 83.3psi i hit fuel cut. one time i had a piston fly out but this nice man at the track gave it back to me. we duck taped it back in there n all was well again.

A lot of people have been using the spring mod with little or no issues. Look it up, it's a carb spring I think that they used.

Im runing 13psi daily with the unichip, corksport exhaust and Injen cai,car runs great,if my sale doesnt work out ill install the hiboost fmic,s&j pipes, motormounts, jspec cam,440cc injectors and have the unichip dynotuned @15psi.
