Boost Gauge

Whats the difference between electrical, and mech.? Which one is more reliable? I have a blitz turbo timer with a built in boost gauge but im scared to install because it will void the warr. Please help with any suggestions Thank you Guys.

Electrical I believe pulls its readings off the pcm where as mechanical pulls its readings straight from the line. Remeber with warranties it only voids if it is the cause of the problem. If you have a mechanical gauge and watch it, you will know if there is a problem with that before anything goes severely wrong. Plus if your that scared just buy an extra hose that you tapped into for boost reading, and if need be swap before dealer visits.

Mechanical gives a more accurate reading (from what I have heard) and as long as you make sure there are no leaks you shouldn't worry about anything going wrong.

I took my car in for the recall last month and the service tech said he re-routed my vacuum line and didn't say anything about warranty or problems with continuing service on my car so I wouldn't be worried about installing one on your own.

Not the PCM. Both taps into a vacuum line for the reading. For electrical, the line is hooked up to a sensor, and the sensor sends out information to the gauge as an electrical signal, and the electric motor in the gauge moves the needle according to the signals. mechanic has the vacuum line connect to the gauge, and the vacuum/pressure moves the needle mechanism instead of electric motors (think of a dial type tire pressure gauge).
