I am wanting to buy a boost gauge prolly Prosport. Just can't decide between the two. Pros, cons and personal opinion welcome. Thanks!

Mechanical gives a more accurate boost reading since it is directly connected and doesn't rely on a boost sensor..my prosport electrical seems alittle off to me. I haven't fully confirmed this with a another tool like a dashhawk yet...but I do plan on changing over to a mechanical.

I say mechanical for the same reason^ , mechanical will give the better accurate readings and its cheaper
cheaper is the only pro for mechanical... a poor installation may give you a bad reading and/or headaches.
DEFI electronic boost gauge is as reliable as any mechanical ones, it work the same way a mechnical one does but no need to be carful with the plumbing BUT, you have to run wires in the engine bay. Wires do not kink or leak when they wear out of rubbing.
IMO its a personal choice.

I never had any issues out of my mechanical on my last car, I owned it for about six years with a mechanical boost guage..yeah a bad install on anything leads to having issues. The cost of the DEFI gauges and the sending unit are alittle pricey especially on a budget..why pay that when you don't have to unless you show your car..especially when the cheaper alternatives are just as effective and will allow more money for other mods.

can I get an amen your preaching to the choir man .. IMO id rather go the cheaper route especially if its installed correctly I know im on a budget and mechanical is the way for me, especially if I can use the money I save to get more mods in my book thats a win/win situation.. but in the end its your choice we just give the opinions. Kyrosfactor ask yourself what do you need? do you want the extra features for elec? or do you just need something to do the job? thats how I'd make this decision.

Why not just read boost from the dashhawk? Or do you just want a boost gauge? I've got the electronic boost gauge, which has been perfectly accurate compared to my dashhawk's reading ever since I bought it. In case you're wondering, I bought the boost gauge before the dashhawk. LOL

I used to view the DH, but it broke so MSD sent me a refurbed one that doesn't have the newest firmware with boost/vac settings.
I would update it but I and everyone else I know owns a Mac. Plus I was wanting to do the drivers side vent install, looks really good!!bradboyd80

Seriously? you don't know anyone with a PC? That sucks....in a way. I know Mac's are better, but PC's are so abundant. What about using a public library or Fedex store?

I ordered a prosport electrical gauge and am looking forward to having it installed sooN.
I'm a bit anxious regarding the CPE gauge pod I ordered though, I am hoping it is not too flashy. would have liked a gauge pod that fits near the cigarette lighter where basically nobody could see it except the driver.

I had a ProSport electrical boost gauge and found it to be inaccurate. I switched to an AutoMeter Cobalt mechanical boost gauge.

routing the tubing for the mechanical could be a chore, but as someone pointed out, if you have a DH the electric is silly, they are both reading the same mazda sensor

does anybody have a 2.5" test pipe, and an upgraded rear engine mount for an ms6?....or know where i can get one? anyplace except **********. i ordered these things back at the beginning of april and they say they're still waiting on them!!!! that's quite the backorder!

can someone remind me if the backlighting on the odometers (i.e. the orange lighting) is always turned on? now that I have a boost gauge installed I am questioning if the wiring is correct, as I don't recall the backlighting being turned on all the time (even when the headlights are in the Off position).
when headlights are off, backlighting is on (orange), and boost gauge is on (white)
