Boost Cut

I was just wondering if Boost cut will hurt the motor at all or is it simply just a safety mechanism to protect the motor?
I hit boost cut 2-3 times in the cold cold weather lately and haven't really seen anything discussed on here about it. Thanks :D

it shouldnt just makes the boost stop. basically your cylinders are fed only gasoline which would actually make it better for it

I don't think it hurts it.. But if you watch say your AP or DH, you will see engine knock when it hits...

scatt, knock does not necessarily result from boost cut. I monitor KR on my dashhawk, and have done several data logs of boost cut an have seen no KR in the region. If you are seeing it, chances are that you are hitting a combination of knock retard and fuel cut.

What you see on the Dashhawk display is knock retard which is the engine pulling timing after actual knock is detected.

OP, regarding your boost cut, what are your engine modifications?

Thanks,
Jeff

hey Jeff thanks for the info, I am a member on MSF. org as well.

I currently have a CP-E short intake and the Cobb Turbo-back.
The other night when I got boost cut I didnt have the lower (2nd) O2 sensor installed, I just had it plugged. But I got that sensor today and installed it and got no boost cut tonight but it was about 15-20 degress warmer outside so I am guessing it is a combo of corrected AFR's with the 2nd O2 and the slightly warmer temps that helped it not to cut. Bottom line is that I need to get an acessport, as it stands its un-tuned so I am not surprized that its running rough.
