i have been looking at the boost gauges and i love the idea of putting it in the air vent driver side. but...... what boost gauge to get. i was looking at defi... way to expensive. and then autometer. didnt really like any. so i looked at pro sport. i found a gauge i liked but it seemed to be a little cheap. so i was wondering if anyone out there has one. please let me know how it is! thanks

I have had the autometer. It was pretty nice. I then switched to a prosport premium 52mm and put it on the drivers vent gauge pod. I love it. You can set alerts and it has memory of your highest peak boost. Electric vs the autometer mechanical. the needle is more steady on the electric one. I think the needle responds faster on the mechanical one however. But no peak and warn on mechanical ones.

I would not skimp on the boost gauge. No point in having one that doesn't read properly. I regret buying my second hand prosport that doesn't read properly. Its consistent but still frustrating when my obd gauge says im boosting 18 and my prosport says 21.

I wouldn't advise the cheaper prosports. They don't seem to be that good. If I were to get another boost gauge I would get a maddad.

Get a nice gauge and in the long run you will be happier.

I have no problems with my prosport. Reads exactly what the dashhawk says for boost.

thanks guys. i think im going prosport. how did you mount your gauge on the drivers vent??? what did you use to mount it there?

I don't like the driver vent mount. Not very readable there but you can use vent pods which are sold here on the forums as other places.

Depends on what you plan on doing. If you are conservative than I would definitely get a aeroforce or dashhawk. Simply so much more practical. Monitors everything you need and the install takes 5 seconds (literally).

How much are dashhawks I'm really only looking for a boost gauge. I'm not too sure if I need everything else? And what made you go tmic instead of fmic??? Fmic looks MEAN on mazdas :)

There like 300 bucks. You can find a used one for a bit cheaper. Who went tmic instead of fmic..?

To get a boost gauge thats worth it you will pay about 100 bucks or more. Dashhawks sell often used for about 200 bucks so you could grab one. They are a more cost effective choice in the long run. Or an aerofoce scan gauge like mine which is even cheaper.

I went TMIC instead of FMIC because im holding on to my warranty. Im getting ready to go to med school so I really don't have the time to remove / re-install it if something goes wrong. TMIC takes 10 minutes to install and a FMIC takes 4+ hours unless your a pro. When my warranty is up in a year ill probably grab a FMIC since I won't have to remove it. Not even sure then because FMIC's aren't that much better than TMIC's.

So you don't get heat soak? I live in maryland and it gets hot and when you open my hood you can just feel the heat comming out like a relief to get the hell out you know? And I'm losing power. Big time. I think I'm gonna get the cpe fmic. Kinda expinsive though.

I have 2 Boost gauges!!! lol 1 for me its a Prosport 52mm and 1 for my passengers its also a Prosport 52mm... love them both and have no issues to date with them.. and Ben (Block8head) makes Kick ass Vent Pod's and he even has a Dual Gauge vent pod now which is sick!!!

The FMIC is better but the heat soak with an aftermarket TMIC is not as bad as people make it out to be. As I said I can let the car idle for about 5 minutes in the blasting sun after a drive and it will only be warm to the touch. It also cools VERY fast. I remember when I had the stocker if I let the car sit for 20 seconds the thing would burn you if you touched it.

The stock ducting distributes air over the TMIC pretty well so when your moving the advantage is basically nonexistent.
