Thats the only thing I can think of. OP, next time you hear it check the mirrors and see if one of the blind spot monitor lights is on.

You'll only hear an audible for BSM when you have a turn
signal indicator on for the lane the BSM is warning for.

Without the turn signal engaged, you will only get a visual warning
in the corresponding mirror. It sounds more like a
rapid d d deet! than a bong bong bong!

While driving or stopped? Tom Tom does have a safety feature that will play a tone when you are over the speed limit. Although, you may have to turn this feature on so I'm not sure if that is it. I have mines set at like 80 mph, sometimes I don't realize how fast I'm driving and it helps big time in slowing the eff down. I changed the tome on mine, don't know if the default was an alert like that.

It's true. The alerts work even when not using the nav. 100% likely it's one of the safety alerts chiming off.

Yea, I can't think of anything other than the 3 items brought up in this thread: seatbelt or nav speed warning or signaling with blinker while a car is in your blind spot.

Whew thanks. I will have to experiment to verify the navi thing (I know it's not the others), but that sounds likely. Stupid stupid navi. I thought I was imagining it for a while.

Yup... that same tone went off a couple of times on me
and it was the red light camera warning. Even with TomTom off.

This I turned on in our car and even the next morning after I turned it on it confused me. I figured it out that at the same intersections it always happens...redlight camera warning is 3 quiet, subtle bings.

I have disbaled this setting and the noise still keeps coming some times when i amdriving at 70mph on freeway it starts coming when there are no signal I was thinking about taking it to Mazda today to check is there some thing wrong that it is indicating

You disabled which, the nav intersection camera warning or the over the speed limit setting, both?

I turned on the intersection camera setting the other day just to see what it was like and it bings on the freeway near one exit where there are cameras at the first intersection off the freeway. I am across the road on the far side when this happens (and the light is still up the hill about another block), so it's a bit of distance to the light. I'm only mentioning that to show that the camera setting will bing from the freeway.
