Yelllow 2003.5 MSP
I traded in my 03.5 MSP for a 2008 - 40th Anniversary Edition RX-8.

I wasn't sure if I would regret it or not.... so far NOT....

The MSP was fun to drive but the 8 kicks its butt in the twisties.

I still get to go Boing Boing when I drive my truck....

Woot! Welcome to the rotary club. Did you choose the Anniversary Edition? You know the new 2009 model will be out soon.

Another Member joins the rotary side ;)...cool color choice...Very nice!

What are the first mods going to be..? :D

I kept the silver valve stems and caps from my MSP and installed them. That was mod 1.

I plan on keeping it in BS stock form, so, cat back exhaust, better filter and possibly an adjustable front sway bar.

The Racing Beat gauge pod (replace astray) mod might also happen.

That's about it ...

I did so much to my MSP that it took me 3 days to get everything off.. what a PITA that was.

Heh, sounds like my experience with my P5. So back to my question, don't like the 09?

I get the 09 in 08... Doesn't look like the 09's will have more than what I have except Recaro seats...

The body changes on the 09's are not that impressive to me.

I see most of the mechanical changes are oil related. I don't know much about the new 6 speed transmission but with a larger 4.77 rear you will definitely need the larger fuel tank...

did I miss anything?

The truth, I am very happy with my 8. I have a Dr's appointment to wipe the permanent grin off my face.

My big push for the 8 was for autocross but I love it everywhere I drive it. Maybe down the road Mazda will produce a new RX-7 or maybe an RX-9. If I waited another year to buy an 8 it would have been another year of Autocross wasted in a FWD car.

Here are some pics of my 8 on day 1. http://s290.photobucket.com/albums/ll242/autoxracing/My RX-8/

more pics at autocross.

Since my last post I have installed a K&N filter, adjustable Koni's and a Whiteline FSB with Whiteline adjustable end links and bought a set of OEM and Rota P1 rims.

I now have two sets of racing wheels. I am running 275/35-18 Hoosiers on Rota P1's. You can also see these tires mounted on a set of OEM wheels which I used until my Rota's came in. The OEM's are now the home to my Hoosier Wets and the Anniversary Rims are home to the Bridgestone RE-01's that came with the car. There are pics with all 3 rims. My first event was run on the Anniversary Rims with the Bridgestones.

The car is so predictable / neutral and I am getting very comfortable with the RWD. I stroked out a 14th place time over all in my last two events. The next event for me will be in Peru at the end of June. Can't wait.
