Body Kit Question (wings west)

02 Protege LX
I recently purchased a new wings west kit, I have an 02 LX but I bought the MP3 only kit becuase I was doing the P5 conversion anyway and already had the fender liners, grill, and everything.

So my question is, I was reading the directions on the WW website, and it says that you have to remove the absorber (foam piece) that covers the reinforcement. Why do you have to do this and is it completely necessary? That was the only piece I had not purchased to do my conversion besides the skirts and all, and I just wanted to make sure I didnt need to get that.

Sorry if this is on the board already!! I have searched and searched and have not found a direct answer.

Thanks.

P.S. I only bought the kit because it was cheaper than buying what I needed to get from the dealer or used actually to finish off my P5/MP3 conversion. I know alot of people dont really like the WW kit but it has grown on me.

Um.... I kept my styrofoam on and my WW bumper fit like a glove. Stock off, WW on.

If it's the MP3 WW bumper though ,you need the MP3 rebar, styrofoam, and fender liners.

Yeah its the MP3 only WW kit, i have the MP3 rebar and fender liners and grill already, just didnt want to get the styrofoam absorber if I wansnt going to need it. Because its like 40 some bucks from the dealer.

Thanks, I'll probably test fit this weekend, and get it painted next week or so. The kit is suppose to arrive Wed. So I'll see how things fit and then buy it if necessary.

You'll need it or your bumper will sag.

They dont make the regular sedan bumpers anymore?

I don't know if they still do or not, but it was the last WW kit the guy had for the protege so he gave it to me dirt cheap. And like I said I was doing the conversion so I had all the extra parts for the front bumper conversion anyway except for the absorber, so I said why the heck not.
