LOS ANGELES (AP) - Bob Barker endorsed his friend Rosie O'Donnell as a possible successor on "The Price Is Right," although the newly retired host isn't sure CBS wants a woman to take over the game show.
"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he won his 19th trophy.

"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker said his friendship with O'Donnell goes back several years, when she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show.

"She told me she loved `The Price Is Right' and wanted to host it one day," he recalled.

Among those mentioned as possible replacement hosts have been Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

Barker retired last week at age 83 after 35 years of giving away vacations and cars on the hit CBS game show. But he said he may be back with some specials featuring vintage clips and guests.

"If it works out, I'd like to do that," he said.

The smartest thing they could do is let it die.

I agree. Barker wa the only thing keeping that show going. They should just let it fade away.

But if Rosie is picked, how long till shes getting into fist-a-cuffs with some unlucky contestant!

She is wayyy to controversial to be the host for it. You never hear about barker outside of the show getting into verbal wars with people. They should just let the show go, it would be better off.

yea you never heard about him in the news at all never for anyting, ummm like supposedly forcing the girls that showed off the prizes to have sex with him or anythng. oh wait rosie would do the same thing i think

dude they should let it die...this would be far wierder than the time Rod-Roddie was replaced by that black guy who still tried to impersonate his voice...i mean did they really think we wouldnt notice that the fat jolly guy turned into a skinny black dude just cause he mimicked his voice?

There is no Price Is Right without Bob Barker. Period.

I actually cried at the end of the last show. It's been my favorite game show since .. well, since ever.

Thats nice and ignorant.

Yeah I think try not to use slurs against people (except for communist which the people I use it against usually don't mind because they really are communists:) )

At least you didn't argue with the extra crazy Liberal bit because that lady is truly un-hinged!(boom08)

I just don't think Rosie has a game show personality and doesn't seem to have a welcoming personality either.

Plus she has way too much controversy around her name, if they really decided to keep the show alive, they should have someone unknown take over the show IMO.
