Not long after BMW M ended production of the E60 M5, BMW M has now announced the current M6 is no longer being built either as of Tuesday July 20th.

The sad repercussion is the V10, the mighty engine that powers both cars, no longer has a home the next generation M6 will be powered by the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 as the upcoming M5. So its an end to not only a great, almost scary, grand touring coupe, its also an end to a magnificent 5.0-litre V10 engine.

Hopefully rumours of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics M car come true, whereby the ultra-futuristic, hybrid supercar brings back the V10, in conjunction with electric plug-in hybrid technology.

Very sad day, engine takes these hefty cars to 200mph with EASE. They should put this in a mid-engine supercar for sure! skip the electric engine...

The next generation TT V8s will not have a problem taking the next M5 and M6 to 200mph with software that eliminates the speed limiter. I know of X5 M and X6 Ms that could alot hit 200mph with software installed.

not a fan of the big v10?

They have a lot of problems.

It's still a brilliant engine that won Engine of the Year 2005-2008, it will be missed.
