BMW guns for Cayman with Z4 Coup
BMW is gunning for the Porsche Cayman S with its new Z4 Coup, the 'M' version of which packs the M3's 388bhp V8 engine for shattering performance.
Seen in these official images for the first time, the Z4 has two engine options - a 265bhp straight-six unit and the 3.2-litre, 388bhp V8 from the M3. That's 43bhp more than the Cayman, although the Z4 weighs 80kg more. BMW claims a 0-62mph time of 5.0sec for the Z4 M and a limited top speed of 155mph.
The Z4 Coup has a useful boot at 300 litres, but that room has come at the expense of the fuel tank, which is only 55 lites. As a result, range is limited to 280 miles.
The two new models will go on sale in the UK in July. The regular 3.0-litre model will cost around 31,000, while the M Coup will start at 38,000, 5000 less than the Cayman.
