*blows off MazdaForums dust

Those plugs are $70 freaking dollars. That's nuts for 4 plugs!

NGK's not good enough?

Where'd you look? I paid $45 for mine shipped from SU.

The NGK need to be re-gapped beyond what is considered 'acceptable' for their durability. The Denso's are usually pre-gapped for our application.

The ITV22s are $8.50 each at Amazon. I put mine in this past weekend, and it made a noticeable difference in the car. I'm stock, but I've been feeling that I couldn't really use the car below 2000rpm, which meant when driving around town I was using a lot more gas than I should be. Now, the car is comfortable at 1500 when cruising in traffic, and can easily accelerate (I'm not stomping on it obviously). I expect my mileage around town to go up a fair bit. And, the car also feels more responsive when I get into it. It really is a nice change in the happiness of the car.

Make sure to gap at 0.28 or so, and if you're getting an AP you need to get these.

+1

Before the step colder plugs, i used to get some engine stutter when i'd punch it, even after dropping it down a gear or two. Swapped in the ITV22's and no hesitation at all.

That comment about useless below 2000rpm is spot on. I'll buy the Denso's.

What about wires?

I wouldn't even worry about wires, and I don't think anyone makes anything in terms of OEM replacements. I know HKS sells the TwinPower ignition system, but I believe that piggybacks the stock wires for added power.

Nobody I've talked to has recommended wires as an upgrade.

So far waiting for install, SU TMIC, Cobb SRI, SU Test Pipe,...on the way Denso plugs, motor mount. I also have a set of OEM Potenza's on the way and 2 Falken 329's to match the fronts. Want an AP (ASAP), boost/AFR gauge, and that sleek front grill replacement.

That's a nice list to get ya started. I still think picking up a Cobb TIP would be a worthwhile investment right now when you plan on doing all of this as well. You looking to do any suspension mods?

Is that the turbo tube?

Suspension...probably not. I would like to autoX it a couple times, but remember this car is only a temp before I get into a new cts-v.

Dash Hawk vs AP vs gagues. Does the DH display boost through OBDII?

Amazon $35 FTW! Ordered.

Glad I could help. :) I've seen people post about stretching the coils when you install the spark plugs, but when I got them out they are a solid piece of plastic and I couldn't pull them apart. The pieces do rotate, maybe that is what is meant, but I didn't really do anything to them, so it's probably not a big deal.

If it's the first time changing, be ready for the boost tubes to be a bit sticky...I had to take a small screwdriver and pry between both tubes and the intercooler connections (very carefully!) to get the tubes to release. Everything else is really straightforward, just take your time. Don't forget to grab some dielectric grease and some anti-seize.

Almost forgot, the car came with a turboXS BOV. Those things actually affect performance or just make noise?
