Blown Shock

On my Mp3, how would you know if you blown a shock. the other day I was messing with my coil overs, and when I got to the passanger side front coil over I noticed that is was all oily, not actual oil but some kind slick liquid covering all over the shock and coil over. When I was messing with the other coilovers, they were all dry, unlike this one. What should I do? Does this mean that I have a blown shock? plus if is a blown shock then how much am i looking to pay for another one? i think they are Tokico shocks that came with the Mp3

Sounds to me like a cv boot went bad, and all your grease leaked out onto your springs. Check them for cracks or breaks.

When you were trying to get the nut of what did you use to keep the shaft straight. I you used a vise like my dumbass did on the shaft then boom blown shock. or it could have just bottomed out really bad from being to low. Oh well, try to get it back to stock and have those butt holes try to replace it under warranty. good luck.

Me and my girlfriend thought about it last night. Try to take back to stock and hopefully by a long shot the warranty will still cover it. Or upgrade baby, I was thinking about the Mazda Speed shocks with the Tein springs, I know a while back people were talking about Tokico making shocks but they have not been released yet, from what I understand. I was thinking about the JIC's but tunning them is going to be the hard thing. It's just right now I dont have time to tune them, cause I am always working. I just dont want no half ass job done to them. So comes back to the idea of Mazdaspeed shocks and tein springs, or just try to find one Mp3 shock to replace the blown one. only thing that I am afraid of is, if that one went bad how long do I have before the others get blown?

??? How can this be worth all of this work!? I would just buy a new strut. It isn't worth the $75 or so for the shock to spend 3 hours going back to stock, then 3 hours back to coilovers.

Go aftermarket!!

If you continue to use the coilovers on stockers, you will blow them all, as they are not designed for lowered use. You'll just keep blowin' em all.....Go aftermarket adjustable, Mazdaspeed or Tokico.

If I can find the Mazdaspeed shocks at a reasonable price then I am going to get those. But for sure I am going to take my coilovers off and get the tein springs. I am not sure, but will the tein springs harm the shocks at all cause of the drop, I am thinking that it is 1.5 inches or more before you start to put alot of pressure on the shocks. So the Mp3 shocks are only $75? Where at? I cant find them anywhere.

anything that drops shortens the life of a shock not intended for that use.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the shocks that came with the Mp3 besides the factory?
