Blown fuse??? over and over again

Hello all

I'm Eric. I just bought a 2006 Mazda 3 GT Sport on the 4th of July. Since then I've had a fuse blown at least four times and I've had it in the shop to be fixed each time because it's still under warranty. One dealership thought it could have been something called the "room fuse". What happens is that my stereo is completely dead (display screen and all), the dome lights do not work, the trip meter resets every time I start the car and the remote locks do not work.

They thought it was the cigarette lighter (which was attached tho this 15 amp fuse) so I had someone rewire that so it's attached to a 30Amp power source so I can run my cell phone or GPS off it. I thought that fixed it but now the fuse blew AGAIN! I have an appointment with a Mazda delaership but they say they havent seen this issue before and it may take a long time to find the problem.

Can anyone shed a little insight on what I might be dealing with? Just so I have something I could suggest to the mechanics.

I'm not big on the electrical side of things, but to me that almost sounds like something isn't grounded. If the mechanics have a clue, they should be able to test the voltage pretty easily and see what the issue is.

You could probably get a much better answer posting in a more frequented section. There aren't many of us from NS on this site.....

i don't think the problem is something not being grounded. If that was the case then no current would flow at all. I think you have a short somewhere. I would start looking at the rewire job on the cig lighter....Also, and this may sound dumb, but did you check to make sure there is nothing in the cigarette lighter like a coin or something?
