no thats all i did. Relocate the maf. But essentially it is now a blow through maf is it not?
It realy helped my car out. My car was smooth before, but man my tires tear all the way through third now. I definately gained power and smoothness from relocating to the pressure side.
It is the most accuracte place to put the maf because the maf will read the cooled air from the IC and also, the exact amount of air going to the engine.
I highly suggest EVERY msp owner to do this . ALso, having no filter on the turbo is ******* RoXoRs especially if you have a large one like mine.
It SCREAMSSS in third gear.

Yeah you just have to have a hard pipe that you are willing to cut up. I used the hardpipe that came with my BEGI FMIC, and it worked for me. Very nice setup IMO.orlandomsp said:It's located on the IC to TB pipe, and I would imagine it's pretty easy to do especially with hardpipes.

ALso, about maf longevity. I have yet to hear of anyone having a bad maf because of this. It is common to do this with the sr20det motor as well and i dont see any reason why it should be any more life shortening than in the intake pipe.
I mean air is going by it eaither way. I guess one could make the argument that on the pressure side it is being "pressured" but i think its bullish. I think it is fine. Car runs much much smoother.

well it's not exactly a blow-thru maf.
a blow-thru maf is built to handle airflow in either direction thru it. flapper-type mafs are not. the reason why the maf life is shortened by relocating it to the pressure-side is that air now backflows thru the maf when the throttle plate closes....something it was not designed for.
of course, i am assuming that you placed the maf AFTER the bov correct? btw, the only blow-thru maf i've heard of for our cars was/is sold by mpi iirc. it was a really old thread dealing with an ems.....might be able to dig it up.

wow that thread was kind of a mess. but it seems like the guy was only warning about the whole stalling issue associated with maf-equipped cars and bovs. been discussed a lot here....actually i answered a post about this a few days ago.
a general rule of thumb for bov placement is 6-12 inches from the throttle body. but with a maf in between there, i'm not sure how far from either

I have been blowing thru for a while now but I actually have my BOV between the TB and MAF. I heard it should be before the MAF because it may cause it to go rich when it blows off, but didnt find that out till after I did it. Kinda glad I have it this way cuz now I dont have to worry about air coming back thru. It did make a hell of a difference though a lot more throttle response.

yeah,I have been saying thins for over a year now,never had a problem once.
I put it back with the new engine build aswell.
oh,BTW,
I have heard the 8 to 12 from TB rule many times,and I have tested i, out on my MSP,and other turbo cars,
the BOV placement really doesn't matter,as long as you keep it away from the MAF by at 8 inches or so,to keep turbilance in the airflow down.
