Blew my Engin on MP3, what to do now???

I would not be able to do the swap myself. I can take parts off right there with the best of them. It is putting things back together that suck for me. :)

if you do it all in 2 days, its pretty easy to remember... and with a digital camera, and carefully labeling all hardware during removal, its basically a snap.... my strong vote is, assuming you have the time... you develop the skills so that you can end up saving yourself a ton of cash long run.

If you part out, I need 2-3 interior pieces and sideskirts. possibly more once you post pics...let us know what's up. Good luck on your decision. Think smart financially as this is a rough time. Is it cheaper to fix the MP3 or get a new vehicle unless I missed the post after reading all of them saying you already have a spare vehicle. In that case, I would still keep the MP3 and build. Everyone makes mistakes when installing. I always apply tape to parts so that I can match (ex: Mark a hose with tape marked 1 and tape where it connects as 1). I also take plenty of pics and have a buddy with me just in case. Plus you have the forums to rely on if something goes wrong and you forget!

Parting out is gonna be a pain in the ass.. it'll probably be a lot more work than dropping in a new engine. Taking off all the parts, taking proper pics, negotiating prices with all the potential buyers, shipping them.. and the list goes on.

I would suggest replacing the engine. A used FS-DE can be had for around $500 and if you know some mechanic buddies you can pay them a couple hundred bucks to drop it in. And your car should be worth a lot more than $3000, even with the high miles.

Very true, but still, better to get a car that already got the motor swapped/rebuilt as opposed to still needing a swap/rebulid. Just gotta be a good salesman. An honest salesman, but salesman nonetheless. :D

fixed. and I completely agree. as a non-runner its nearly worthless. hard to get people to pay for work. haha

This your new style now, Wagon? Fixing people's statements? lol Noticed several "fixes" you've made today already. :D

not new... lol. and I don't mean any harm... just trying to bring humor and info together for a better forum experience. lol

ROFL. Well I have a couple people looking at it for themself with the blown motor. I may just do it that way and take a little less then parting it would get me. :)

Anyone know of a cheap place to get a good engine???
I was thinking of trying to sell the car for $2500 how it sets but I think it would be best to throw another engine in it and replace the clutch, then put it for sale. If I can find an engine for about $500 and clutch for $200 then pay someone to install all of it that would be best. Then I will try to sell for $4500. It will even out to about the same but will be easier to sell with a working engine and new clutch.

OK!
SO now I am getting interest in local people for parts first (I dont like shipping big items) and then go from there. Right now it is looking at a part out of MP3 717.
It will be a week or so before I get it to my parents to start parting.
I will post in the for sale section once it is ready to go and after the local parts are taken. Thanks!

Might want to make a list of what is being sold locally so that people don't ask about them, like the rear bumper/lip ;)

I think this is a foolish move... you'll come out a lot furter ahead and put in less work if you get it runnin again.
