i looked everywhere.....

well i'm done, waiting a few more minutes for the silicone sealant i added to dry a little more then I'll put them back on the car

does blacking out your headlights reduce the amount of usable light that the unit either puts out or reflects within the housing area itself? ... if that makes any sense

Blacked out - FINALLY!!

5 hours and a few naps later, my headlights are finally blacked out. The process was easy but nonetheless long.

Here are a few pics:

No, it is just a trim piece that you are painting, not part of the light reflector.

Good Jod, MTV!!!!

i finished mine...i'll take pics later today hopefully. i need to get some plastic x too to see if i can remove some of the oxidation on the plastic. well i got some and touched it up, the passenger side is still cloudy (hard to tell in pics) so i'll try again tomorrow

i've got one housing w/ 4 coats primer, 1 paint, and the other 3 coats of primer. i'm planning on doing 4 primer 3 paint

That seems a little excessive haha... but better safe than sorry, I suppose. I did one and a half coats of paint (really high quality stuff) and no primer. I guess I figure if it's covered, it's not gonna be getting hit by rocks and stuff, so it should be fine.

My friend that helped me did his the exact same way and it hasn't been a problem for a year and a half or so, so I'm not too worried.

In retrospect, we probably should've sanded and primed and used hi-temp paint, if for nothing else than peace of mind. But I think it'll be fine. If not, we can always just take them apart and do it again. Haha.

Everybody's lights look GREAT.

a piece came off in the drivers pic...the shiny part in the corner... :( i think i hit it on the plastic when i stuck it back in the case. i didnt notice it til it was back on the car so it's not gonna get fixed. it's not noticable unless you know its there
