hey guys, i went to a hobby shop and got some pactra (i think its made by testors) spray tint and tried tinting my side markers. well... lets just say its really hard to control the level of tint desired. they ended up black. you can't see the pattern through them at all, but you can see the amber light shine through still... i'll post some pics in a minute. i'm still undecided whether or not they're too dark. let me know what you guys think.

Isn't this defeating the whole purpose of having side markers, to be seen from the side?

What you used is paint for Lexan on RC bodies. I use it all the time since I have thousands put into a Revo I have. There is a paint made for tint that comes out transparent but you must have not seen it or they didnt carry it.

LOL, now that looks sick.

Couple pin stripes on the hood a ground kit would complete the look.

haha, whatever man. well, on the spray can it says transparent window tint. i'm gonna take it to a paint shop and have them do it a medium tint. it came out much darker than i intended.

i think that it looks good prolly alot cheaper than buyin them already smoked out.... so you just got a hobby shop spray tint what exactly was it called? i would like to do this myself what steps did you take ? Did you use a clear coat or just the paint you bought?

hey thanks a lot man. well, i bought it at a hobby shop. i was told to get some testors spray tint but they didn't have any so i got pactra. it says "testor company" on the back. i didn't use a clear coat. i sanded them with a scotch brite pad and then cleaned them with dish soap and then i sprayed them. they came out much darker than i wanted so i removed all of the paint using adhesive remover. worked like a mf charm. i was afraid i was going to have to sand all the paint off. after taking all the paint off, it left it with a very very light smoked look. i'm going to try it again with the pactra and if i can't get a medium tint out of it, i'm gonna try nightshades. btw, smoked side markers from s t r e e t u n i t . c o m are like $119. if you ask me, they're scavangers and they wont get my business. $35 for a black 3 emblem? bull s***.

yeah, i already painted my front and back M's, i'm gonna order an Axela badge and paint it black to match along with my mazdaspeed badge. i already have the 3 badge, i was just pointing out how outrageous their prices are.
