Black tape fully removed around door frame...

I like having the tape since I can close the door on the outside without having to finger print the pain or window. The tape seems to hide finger prints pretty well on my car.

Yep, the tape also provides one more layer of thermal protection against outside heat getting to the paint during my high-speed runs.

how much do you think the tape weighs? Less weight= Bett3r

The sad thing is... I was actually thinking that myself. haha

I have a titanium and did this last night (after reading this post and getting off work). My fingers are raw now :D I'll see if I can get some pics up today.

Ya know what though? I bet if the cars came with it body color there we'd be looking to change it to black :D

I always wanted carbon fiber covers for the outside door pillars. I bugged Amie at DG a bunch to have them made. But I always thought it might look weird with all the other black. If one were into carbon fiber, and wanted covers for that portion it would look MUCH better with all the black tape removed.

FYI, for those still in question of how this works... Just think of that black that's being removed like a sticker. It's just like thin vinyl, a sticker you're pulling off.

My card reader does not work at on my work computer... I'll have to wait until I get home it looks like.

Crazy, you've got the same name and same car (same color even) as me....

Look at my sig...to me, that looks hot & if you take the tape off, you ruin that look.
if you have tint then you prolly should leave the tape on, cause it compliments the tint, but i dont have it and not planning on getting any... so tape off for me.

I was actually thinking about doing high-gloss outdoor vinyl to replace what I just took off when I tint the windows.

I'll probably leave it body color, I like it much better like that.

Blackmagic, that pic is dark and unclear! I can't see detail even. :P

Yours shouldnt have tape anyways. none of the black micas do.
Ok good. I've waxed every inch of my car and oogled it for hours, I couldn't believe I hadn't seen the black tape around the windows before.

The easiest way to get it off is to get a hair dryer or heat gun and heat up the vinyl. The glue will seperate itself a lot easier. If your wondering how I knew that I work for a sign shop and we do it daily. Then just get some bug and tar remover or spray some windex on any left over glue and let it sit for 60 secs and wipe it off with a towel. I haven't done it with mine yet but I've been thinking about it. I've got really dark tint so I think it will look alright.

Actually an even easier way is to do it after work... when the car has been sitting in the hot sun all day. No extra tools required. :)

I noticed today at work that even BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus use tape between their doors to give the look. About the only thing that didn't where pickup trucks that had a single door or large SUVs.

I have a yellow p5 i've been picking and picking at the black stuff but it doesnt seem like it is tape. I have some scratches on it too and it just looks like it is care metal under it. Where is the best place to start on pealing the tape off?

You can not do this on any of the Protege 5's that I have seen.

On the sedans, you can see where it overlaps at the corner.

Yeah i noticed a difference in the msp and the p5. I was really stoked about this, but I see there is no tape on mine.
