Black Smoke...EGR issue?

I have a great deal of black smoke, rough idle, rough car starts, CEL on. All signs point to a stuck EGR. My question is, should I do the EGR delete? I'd rather not for over the $400+ to replace it. If I go forward with the EGR delete, my CEL will likely come on again, I don't have an Accessport so how would I be able to clear the CEL?

do you have back smoke after a few mins of Iddle? it sounds like you have the smoky turbo! in which case you will need to get a new turbo or get the one you have rebuilt.

I had a new turbo installed a few months ago, don't think it's that.

It's at the shop right now, they did a compression test and said it's only getting 25psi...said I need a new engine, could a busted EGR lead to this low PSI?
