Black MSP GONE

Its gone. My baby is gone!!! Story - I was on buttermilk road in Tennessee (if anyone knows where that is) and its a tight twisty road so i thought that my car could handle it. NOPE. i dont even know how fast i was goin but i know it was around 50 or so and i was goin around a right curve. My backend fish tailed to the left so i turned to the left and caught it but i guess i oversteered and the car swung back around to the right so i turned to the right and i dont know if i could have caught it again but my left front wheel went off the edge of the road a little and SEE YA! my car goes off in a little hill/ditch/ravine thing. It flipped once. But, thank God, my friend and I were okay. She just has an elbow bruise and i have a bruise above my left eye. The Car - Front end trashed, driverside door and back door along w/ windows are fine, passenger side doors are dented good and the passenger side front window is smashed. The only thing holding it up was the tint. My roof had some dents in it. My rear end was all to hell. My tailpipe had mud up in about and 1 1/2 inches of the way. All my wheels and tires were fine, but of course i cant get those off to sale because they were stock. My spoiler was in about 4 pieces. My grill was about 20 feet behind where the car ended up. Hopefully i can get some pictures scanned when i get them back. Feel Free To Post
(bang) (sad1) but my friend and i are okay so (rockon)

To all those who have also went through the fate of losing your MSP, how much money did your insurance company give you???? (i had full coverage)

dude, that really sucks. As long as you guys are ok, thats all that matters.

I did save my Mazda emblem off the back of the trunk. It will be in my pocket everywhere i go until i get my next car.

oh yea, i have a JoeP XZ Manual Boost Controller for sale now if anyone wants it. Never used. Was gonna put it on after the winter weather was gone. Only been takin out of the bag its in like twice.

How much do you screwed in insurance when you total a car? Do they totally **** you in coverage costs for the rest of your life?

i didnt even total mine and im taking it up the ass forever.

sounds like you were driving like an idiot trying to impress a girl, thank god you are both ok.

this has happened to me TWICE, i landed in a ditch once, and the other time i just spun around and did a 540 in the middle of the road. you might have a great handling car, but remember to not drive like an idiot and push it beyond its limits, remember the car has limits. i was very lucky not to wrap my car around a tree or hit oncoming traffic both times i spun out, it scared the s*** out of me. it took me until the second time to learn not to do that anymore.

btw if you buy your car back and your drivetrain is still good i bet you can get people to easily buy it, and you can keep things such as the rims, suspension and other goodies like interior pieces to sell, and possibly make a profit or keep them for another protege if you buy another.

Agreed. Sounds like YOU were the one that couldn't handle the car. Not the other way around. While I am glad you and your friend are fine, this is exactly the reason I wish insurance policies had an "idiot exclusion" in their policy. "We won't pay for Bodily Injury or Property Damage that results from you/your acting like an idiot." Too bad that will never happen...

Concerning the insurance. They will give you the going value for the car. They aren't going to screw you. Depreciation is going to screw you. As soon as you drove that car off the lot, the car depreciated as much as 20% (depends on car, etc.). As a result, say you paid $20,000 for the car. The second you drove off the lot, the car was worth $16,000. Don't get your pants in a wad over the numbers I used. Just understand the concept of depreciation once you take ownership.

The best thing you could have done was carrier "gap" insurance to cover the gap between what you owe on the car and what it's worth after you drove it off the lot. In 2 years, the gap is almost nothing and there, normally, isn't a reason to carry the "gap" coverage anymore.

Keep that in mind when you think the insurance company is "screwing" you.

One final issue that might save you is that SOME insurance companies will buy you a new car if the accident results in a "total" within the first year of ownership. Those companies are few and far between though.

too bad its 2004 now and the dealers/banks should have 2003 pricing, otherwise they would have to value your car at sticker, which is what they had to do when i refinanced my p5. they looked it up but didnt have the pricing yet so they figured it at sticker, and of course i owed less than sticker, so i got refinanced with no money down or anything at a 4.75 rate.

when i totalled mine, the insurance payed the whole thing off to the bank and i ended up with $500 in my pocket.
it didnt depreciate as much as i though it would.
i thought i would be uside down at least 2 grand :D.

P.S. no gap insurance either.......hehe
