Bilstein Mazda 2 coil over 47-167490

Purchased new from Corksport approx a year ago. Have approx 6k miles of use. No leaks, squeaks or other problems. Cosmetic rub on the inside of the LR shock due to the evap canister cover. Removed from car as I sold the "2".

Great handling, still decent daily ride quality and transforms the 2 from a economy cruiser into a gokart. Best mod I did, and if I were to ever buy another 2 I'd be buying another set of these within hours.

List Date: 2/2/2014

Hey TA, I'm very interested in purchasing your bilsteins for $600 +40 shipping.
I have stock suspension and looking into lowering my 2 but never lowered a car in my life and have no idea what the difference is from coilovers or normal shocks and struts but hear coilovers are better?
Do coilovers have a longer lifespan?
Thanks!

EDIT: Okay so a bit research, these lower the car 30mm and can adjust it from 30mm-50mm. That's pretty awesome. It looks like Bilstein's are pretty excellent brand but still don't know how long they last. You say 6k miles on them. . . Does that include Track days and rough roads of DD?

I replied to you via PM. Last set of bilsteins I had were on my miata....5 years old of hard auto crossing and no issues at all. Should the need arise Bilstein struts and shocks are fully rebuildable/revalvable by the mfg.

They are Bilsteins. They aren't like Koni's that go dead after a few years. My revalved (from Bilstein) units were on my Miata for 3 years ( and have serviced the new owner for another 4 years so far) no detriment in performance and zero leaks or weeping from the o rings or seals. The only thing that crapped out we're to lower rubber mounts in the rear, which Bilstein sent to me no charge (just paid for shipping). Now that was after 3 years.

I have this kit currently installed on my 2, and quite honestly, it is the best option out there for a reliable daily driver and with a few upgrades, can be very competent on the track and autox. It's a great setup, and for that price, you won't find a better set out there.

BTW, those rear shocks all do that. it's the dust cover hitting on the side and rubs through the paint. The upper mounts are in rubber and flex under compression cocking the boot and they contact the housing. Luckily Home Depot (Racing) has the perfect color in their spray bomb section. I hit mine every year.

Hope this helps you in your decision.. These shocks have been discussed at length in multiple threads, but if there's any specific questions you have that haven't been answered, shoot me a message.

Awesome, thanks!
I just purchased these. :D

I'm going to definitely need to read up on them though. Only thing I'm curious about is when installed, what height should I get the alignment done on? I'm not sure how lowering effects the toe/camber or the benefits/detriments of toe/camber. (coffee)

Get them aligned at the height you will drive at. Since the 2 is your daily, you won't see many benefits to being outside of the recommended specs for camber and toe.

GLWS! If I wasn't flat broke and in college, I'd buy these in a heartbeat.

I'm right there with you...go team broke-ass college students!

Set the height to 24" from the ground measured at the front wheel arch and see how you like the look. If you like the wy it looks, you will be very happy with the ride, the lower you go, the more the rear shocks will hit the bump stops, and make it a bit rough. You can shorten the bump stops by trimming of the marshmallow with little or no detriment to performance.

Awesome, thanks a lot Jasyatz! I have a plan now. :)
I think I'm going to be very pleased with the height. It should be here tomorrow. X) EXCITE.
