Bike racks the new "thing"

:
2012 5 Sport
OK, I'm really into cars, especially Mazdas, and I like to make improvements in handling/power/ style- (mods, yo, in dooshbag speak). My taste happens to be to keep an OEM look. (see pic below from November 2012).

I pay attention to the forums and stuff more at times, and less at other times. I'm getting a new car soon, so I'm getting back into it more.

Anyway, what is the deal with bike racks nowadays? Am I missing something? I've been seeing the normal dooshbags in their slammed Hondas, only now they all rock some sort of roof rack.

EDIT: Damn, OP! That's a very, very clean P5. I'm with you on keeping it "stock looking" of sorts. I have an 03.5 lip/spoiler on my 03 spicy.

Thanks!

So I finally remembered to take a pic of one of these rack-rice dudes. I work at the same airport he does, and I know for a fact that he doesn't ride...

Its the current Fan Boi style. Its one thing when they actually use them. But thats like 3% of the people running them probably. And they really dont do anything for the looks either. But owell, its not my money being wasted. lol

I have a Yakima rack for my MS3 but it actually gets used... Mountain Biking in the spring fall and snowboards in the winter time. When not being used like current, it is off and stored up in the attic.
