Big Wheels in Front, Regular in Back

I'm thinking about putting 8" or 8.5" wheels in front with 7.5" in the back with spacers in the back to match the front. Any negatives? Any comments?

Only if you're drag racing...Other than that you'll be throwing the car out of balance...Great idea for straight line traction...Bad idea for anything else..

I would only do it on track day, at the track, and get some real slicks on the 8 1/2 in the front...

eh, maybe 8.5's in front and 8's in back, to avoid having such a large difference. i would definitely go for it though, why the hell not. just watch your offsets.

I was thinking similarly, just the opposite. With so much more room on the inside of the rear you could probably run a wider rim with a higher offset. Something like a 9.5-10" with a high 50-60 offset (that is if you can even find one, lol). Obviously it wouldnt make sense for traction on a FWD but if your simply trying to get as much rubber as possible, that might work. Plus, I would think it make the car handle pretty good.

madvillian, how much space did you have between the inside of your Rota's and the rear strut body?

You guys have it all backwards. If you're going to stagger for performance you need more meat on the front. FWD cars are nose heavy and they tend to understeer. Your front wheels have to steer, accelerate and handle 80-90% of your braking power. Running smaller tires on the rear will help with rotation since there will effectively be less grip in the back.

Of course that all goes out the window if you just wanna go for looks.

If by "good" you mean "understeer more than the front-heavy beast already does," then sure.

I'm confused so everyone just vote on one of the choices or submit a choice of your own:

1. Go for it. Big tires in front, regular tires in back.
2. Don't do it. It'll be bad for you.
3. Go for it but not too big of a difference in size.

save your money and dont do it.

You wont be able to rotate your tires, so its just going to cost more in the long run.

Then is it at least safe to run 8" without any problems? And what size tires accommodate 8" width?
