Big Brakes for CHEAP!

Everything is all on the website guys. Save the hassle of sourcing used parts and get it all new.

just to clarify, are those the mazdaspeed6 fronts, or the regular mazda6 fronts?? Very cool that you can get all that new in a package, i didn't realize that. What brand rotors are included in that?

stupid question that i'll probably be answering while asking:

to remove the rear rotors, the rivets need to be drilled??

got the rotors....but i have to order the loaded calipers....going to do msp rears and maybe look at mz6 front....woot to stopping power

^What rivets are you talking about? The rotors just pull off if they haven't "bonded" with your hubs...

Oh and Tyler, 70$ would be an insane deal for full front brakes. You would only need 16" rims to clear those, not 17 so you COULD use stock wheels if you wanted :)

Just make sure you are getting them for the right reason though; I use MSP brakes with Hawk pads and they were a huge upgrade compared to stock. I find I can overpower high end tires (Bridgestone RE-01R when I autoX) even with those so you will want to consider the fact that those brakes will be much more powerful then whatever tires you are running...)
I would have done the Mazda6 upgrade (it's been a known BBK up here for a while) but they don't clear the 15" racing rims I use...

why would i go back to stockers again? eWW! lol

and i wouldn't be used to auto-x, i'd get a set for the wife's car just to increase stopping power, and in mine for MAYBE an auto-x after i get better rubber

I know, just saying ;)
But ya, just a heads up that there is a LOT more power out of these things, especially with the fact that your car is almost 500lbs lighter then the MZ6...

ahh....i guess they are bonded good then.....guess i have to break out the big hammer this weekend

I check with the guy(his english is bad and accent) he wants $70 for each cailper with brackets only.

ms6, regular 6 do not clear the larger rotors. rotora rotors.

I have 2 questions:

1. Will these larger front brakes throw off the braking balance of the car, or won't they? It seems to me that only doing the fronts will, although some on here have said that's not the case. My car has ABS, if that has any effect on this discussion. I would think in hard stops the rear of the car would come around.

2. Bgibb said calipers cost X after the core @ places like autozone, but are they going to refund the core if you buy Mz6 calipers and bring back P5 calipers? I tend to think not.

anytime you "reengineer" your car, things change... for better or worse
when you put bigger brakes only on the front wheels on ANY car, the brake bias will shift to the front as braking power has increased in the front... it may make control more difficult because the proportioning valve is not meant for such a disproportionate brake size and the front wheels will lock up more easy, which means easier to understeer the car and/or run into something

similarly, if you upgrade only the rears (no one does that), then your car becomes more tail happy when you brake... its like yanking the ebrake while driving down the road... some drift cars OTOH are setup to have more brake bias to the rear so that it CAN start a drift more easily

ideally, you upgrade all the brakes (like I did with the EDM brakes) and your brake balance stays pretty much the same and overall braking improvement because ALL 4 wheels does the slowing down, not just the fronts!

I found a local guy that's parting out a 04 mazda6, wants $70 for the front brakes but I dont have the cash.

I do and I'm local!!

THE MAN:
How are the EDM brakes an improvement?
and are those off a Familia?
Is the brake bigger, or just have more clamping power?

its the same as what you got, they're just not silver and CHEAPER
and yes, they were on the MSF too

I'm just trying to reason through this here, but it seems to me that when upgrading just the fronts...

if you have ABS, your ABS intervention point would be the same, so at low speeds when you would have been able to have ABS intervening on the stock brakes, it would do so at the same point with the upgraded brakes, HOWEVER, at higher speeds when you are not on the lock-up limit, you would be able to extract more braking power from the fronts, which is obviously where it is more necessary. I don't see how this would lead to more understeering, except i suppose if you're hard on the brakes and trying to turn in, the car will be less likely to change direction. If you're braking in a straight line, then turning, i would think it would definitely be advantageous.

Anyone care to refute/correct me?? I'm not basing this statement on research or anything, just thinking about the issue, so i may very well be wrong.

So the EDM brake conversion is just an upgrade for the non MSPs...That makes more sense.

Now if you could just up with a cheaper stock big brake option for the rear like the ms6 fronts we're in good shape
