I traded in my Titanium MSP for my True Red Speed 3. I love the way they handle. In fact I find them to be very similar in certain respects...

At the limits the MSP was a little better at telling you what was happening. Mostly a function of it being lighter and a little quicker steering.

I'll never forget the time I just DUSTED a S2000 going round the 610 to 59 Entrance ramp here in Houston...he tried to keep up but chickened out about halfway through...meanwhile I was getting a nice little front end push at about 98mph...

I would OWN an MSP again just for fun...but I would never give up my MS3 :)

sorry for my ignorance but what car is the ITR ?

Integra Type R....

Another oneof the best FWD handling cars ever made...most magazines claimed the MSP knocked this car off its spot...handling wise...

Integra Type R....which is an unbelievably good car, the motor is fantastic, gearbox is good by todays standards, it was excellent 10 years ago. The handling and turn in are fantastic.

And the NA 4 cylinder (1.8L if i remember right) produces 197 hp, a redline of 8500 rpm and runs 14.5 to 14.6's at 95 mph.

I'm not so sure about that...I was reading an older article from C&D on the ITR a few weeks ago just for the hell of it...

.90 on the skidpad and a 69+ mph slalom...

Granted you can't really do direct comparisons unless they're in the same comparison tests, otherwise different surfaces and weather conditions will change thsoe numbers some, but I dont recall every seeing an MSP or MP number above a .89 on the skidpad.

The protege's do handle better than the mazda3's but the difference is fairly small, but its definately noticable. In addition I would say hte mazda3 provides a lot more potential simply because its chassis is much stiffer than the protege...

But stock for stock on a small tight course the protege would most likely beat the mazda3.

...I'm still amazed that people are referring to the MSP as having "quicker steering" than the MS3.

News flash:

15.4:1 IS NOT "QUICKER" THAN 14.7:1!

The steering may feel more "direct" in the MSP, but it is definitely not "quicker."

This is neither here nor there, but I believe the ITR is still the best handling FWD car. I've driven my fair share of different sport compacts.

I don't believe the MP3 came with a LSD while the MSP does. What type of LSD is in the MSP? I want to say helical.

Tochigi Fuji Sangyo KK Super Limited-Slip Differentia

that is whats in the car, but is the helical the type of diff that only works on acceleration? cause if it is then no thats not what is in the MSP.

Correct me if im wrong but the MSP has a 1.5 way LSD. Cause it works on during acceleration and deceleration.

lol, had a similar experience...

My buddy owns a performance shop, and his shop car is a 350Z TT, on our way to go watch the new FnF movie, and to promote his shop, we played around on the way there. On an on-ramp he tried to punch it and get away from me, and well he gets on it, and so do I, then about halfway through the turn he started slowing down cause he was losing grip and I reeled his ass in and about passed him coming out of the turn. When we got pulled over for gas he was amazed. He had never even heard of a MSP before mine, and "didn't think I could suck him in like that." lol

I believe this and all of the stories.. Imagine running Tein SS and GTspec all around...... basically on rails...

(encourage Because the MSP and MP3 are basically the same car. Do you really need that explained? (hand)

wtf dude? you said the msp handles better than the MP3, and you posted the skid pad number, and the skid pad number only, and with a sarcastic tone, using your skid pad number as a reference that since the skid pad numbers are the same they must handle the same... i was just showing how one number you posted isn't the end all how a care handles, and then you prove that point by agreeing with me that there is more to handling than the skid pad, when you said there is more to handling that skid pad number...

way to contradict yourself.

I wish I had coilovers and all the chassis bracing! My next handling upgrade will be some better tires. Thinking of going with the new Kuhmo XS.

Maybe in a few years I'll have all the suspension upgrades, but until someone shows me that their car can out handle my MSP I'm happy. Everytime I think of trading the MSP in my brother makes me realize that whatever I get isn't going to be as fun as my MSP.

lol, you don't get it. When comparing two identical cars, yes, skidpad results can mean something. When comparing two different cars, they don't mean as much.

Have a nice day. :)

I'll be going to an autoX tomorrow. There will be a 09 MS3 there as well. We're both DSP class, though he probably has more mods than I do, and this will be my first event. I'll let you know how our times end up.

from the videos I looked up online... its a pretty fast course. and it looks like its supposed to rain... thats actually good for me as I'm running all season tires... but we'll see what happens.

s*** he's got MS coilovers and upgraded sways. if we use this as a benchmark, I'm gonna get SMOKED. if I stay withing like 5 seconds of him I'll say I'd be faster stock for stock. lol

A comparison of autocross times between two different drivers is going to be pretty much useless... (dunno)
then why does anyone bother to autocross, and what is the point of classing particular cars together, and competing?

My view is that (as a newb) if I come close to hanging with his time... it would then be safe to say that the MSP handles better stock for stock (my ONLY mods that will "help" me here are an exedy clutch, FMIC, and front drop springs) so despite being street prepared, I'm not heavily modded.

you say useless, I say a fair indicator. if you don't choose to see it as valuble, thats fine though.

Comparing two different cars' times with the SAME driver would give you insight into the performance capabilities of one car relative to the other....Adding an entirely different variable into the mix (driver) makes the data pretty useless.

I run faster times than cars that would easily be described as having "better handling" than my MS3, but that's because they're being driven by less experienced/talented drivers...I've also been beaten by drivers that are driving cars that wouldn't be considered "better handling" than the MS3.
