they blew my subbox, did a nice job with the Excelon amp and HU, but i check the setings on the amp and the gain was all but max with the loudness, bass EXT and bass Q at max as well.

i told them that they had to be careful running those watts at MINIMUM first, then they told me i bought in a blown speaker. i thought i was gonna kill that guy- they didnt even call me when it happend, i had to call them an hour later after the estimated install time, and when i got thier, this kid (cuase all they hire r a bunch of punk ass know-nothing children) told me the guy who did the installation had "left for the day". it was a simple HU and amp install, and i could of done it myself but i had more time then money that day, and in my area all the private shops are closed on weekends. soon as i had a chance i checked all the rest of the wireing and grounds and setting and made everything right so, they did what was good for them and returned my install fee, so i didnt have to go tireslashing. then i check the net to find out the speaker in the box i had is no longer made (its a DS series lanzer).

if ant you guys here work in thier intall dept-im not knokkin you, but hese assholes...

...steer clear of that place-i prolly dont have to tell anyone here to do that, i prolly get flame pretty hard for taking it thier in the first place, but like i said-free blowing with every install

the only thing I really let anyone install electronicly on my car is alarms and that is because they are a pain in my ass.

LOL what do you expect, i think there was another thread posted about how "PROFESSIONALS" install things, always best to do it yourself, my friend had a hellva time fixing all the bull s*** Futureshop (Bestbuy equiv) did to his car, everything was so ****** up it wasn't even funny plus they took twice the time to do it than expected, stupid dumbass s****, i can't even belive how some of the ppl got the jobs there

**** that.. i would still do it myself, i went to soundsarround to get a remote starter put in my moms car because we HAD to, it was part of the package and agreement, ended upfucking tearing the whole thing out and redoing it, stupid fuckers, the only time anyone touches my car is if it is to weld a new muffler on... but thats IT

well I had circuit city install the one on the intrepid and I honsetly never had a single problem with it. I was surpised myself. the only thing that I didn't liek was the location of the LED and the valet switch.

Crap. I was going to get an mp3 cd player at best buy and have them do the install since it is free. I have no experience with installing electronic equipment so I figured they had to be better equiped than me. It seems like just a cd player install is as simple as you would get, what could they possibly screw up?

That is piss poor customer service. I would have asked for whoever is over the department and plead your case. I had a similar experience with Circuit Sillies. They loved to install amps with the gains wide open and I ended up having to tweak it all, whereas any other professional shop would do it for you. Sorry to hear about the problems. I would call them up and raise hell to the supervisor. If nothing comes up, then go up the chain until something is done. (dark)

this is the reason why you dont go to chain stores, and you go to an actual audio store, and even there i would never take my car in blindly ask to see their install books and ask for refrences. andy decent shop will have no problems whatsoever supplying this to you.

yeah or you can do it youself so you know EXACALY what is going on, even if you don't know how you can still have a friend help you with it, its a good learning expiriance too

plus its saves you alot of time, hassle and money, then ur friends will pay you do to theirs =) that what i do. Better and Cheaper

i know, i know...

having more money then time is a bad thing, and like i said-the hotshops are closed on weekends and i had to have it done cuz of the flight switches and purge button install tha next monday. the time the local shop could squeez me in was too late.
i pot to post a pic of my face in the "owned" thread for this one.

Me and my friend used to work for Best Buy in the computer service department. One time he had them install a HU, Sub and amps that he bought from them. Most of the guys working at our store were pretty decent. However they did one big **** up. They had the amp on a wooden board and screwed it into the bottom of the trunk. When they did this they drilled 4 holes into the gas tank. Boy did my friend have fun with that. Best Buy got to pay for a new gas tank.

LMAO!!!!!!!! just when you thought blowing up amps wasn't enough now they wanna blow you up too!!!!!!1 AMP = HOT GAS = BLOW UP

you can never rush things when u want something done right, rushing the job is most of the reason why you see bad looking and sounding cars.

couldnt have said it better myself. this is why i never have anything installed by circuit city or best buy.

Yea, best buy could kiss my ass. Back when i was a young buck, with my first car...a 92 toyota corolla, i had various things installed at best buy and a reallllly good install place in NY, called movin' on sound. (check out their custome installs on www.movinon.com). Well, one day i turned on my car and none of my speakers were working only my sub (movin on did the speaker install) and i took it to best buy and they said my radio was fried, so i bought a kameleon face on the spot for like $200, but when they installed it, the same thing was happening, and so they found that the right front speaker was clipping, so they disconnected it (instead of fixing it) and told me the problem. So i bascailly bougth a new radio for no reason. But anyway, took it back to movin on and they fixed in in 20 minutes for free. THey are now my installers of choice. YOu can tell a store is good when they mostly only carry alpine, JL audio some phoniex and eclipse stuff...and this real expensive amp called McInt-something or other.

Macintosh, they are expensive and sound great but god help you if you need a warrenty repair :D.

Gotta love bad trouble shooting skills. Its funny though, I know guys that could basicly rebuild the interior of a car and put speaker just about anywhere. However, they couldn't figure out why a sub won't work.
