Best Tire

I am no tire expert but I have gone through my share.

Dealers and manufacturers will (typically) put the cheapest tire on a car they can get away with and will generally be geared towards the climate and season they are in.

That having been said you can't have your cake and eat it too unless you want to pay.

The softer the tire the better performance and handling but they won't last too long. The tires that came on your car were meant for an aggressive look and they have poor tread pattern meaning the handling isn't surpurb and they won't last long.
Most of the major manufacturers make a performance tire but here's the biggest tip...if they don't have a rating it's because they are for performance and WON'T last.

Get an all weather GT tire and you will get the best of both worlds...but the cost are a little high.

I get my tires through Sam's club (or equivellant)

Well it's OBVIOUS that your assessment of your own tire expertise is spot-on...

This post is mostly nonsense...

"All weather GT tire" is the "best of both worlds?" Are you kidding??

More like, "mediocre of both worlds." (yupnope)

True.

Untrue. They put whatever tire maximizes both performance and safety. A HUGE amount of development goes into selecting the best tire for a vehicle. Also, you're aware that the same cars are sold all over the country/world and in every climate, right? Cars sold in Arizona are still spec'd and built to be operated in Alaska.

Partially true. Super sticky summer tires can be had for <$150 ea (expensive by some standards, but not by mine. A set of mounted winter tires can be found for around 200 bucks. Summer tires in summer and winter tires in winter = one cake you can eat and one cake you can have

Totally untrue, what are you smoking? The tread and compound of the RE050A are tuned for performance handling.

Soft, sticky high-performace rubber grips hard and wears fast. Is this a difficult concept?

Nliiitend1 is right. This is only the best option if you don't want to change wheels each season. Your grip will be sacrificed in both summer and in winter.

I too am looking for replacements. The stock tires really seem to be hit or miss. I drive like an old lady and maybe put 20 miles on the car a week sometimes...and my tires are near-shot at around 10K miles. They reached somewhat of a plateau of low-tread at about 7K miles to their credit and finally slowed down with the wear. I am ready to throw my winter tires back on though considering how loud the stock tires get while they wear out. Probably going to go with an A/S tire...read good things about the Goodyear Eagle GT

I was at the Tail of the Dragon in June, EECMM. We ripped up the road on the Tail and the Cherahala Skyway and the stock tires never gave way. I was impressed with how the MS3 handled as well as the tires.

Same here but in May. I'm not used to roads without pot holes. Thats probably why im down to 3-4/32nds in 10k miles. Lots of rubber and break dust on my car that week.
