Just wondering...tire size would be 225/40-18

Looking for a good summer tire...hopefully someone has some suggestions? I'm completely clueless when it comes to what is good/bad in today's tire world

Dunlop Direzza Starspecs

168 a pop at tire rack + $50 mail in rebate

err nvm they dont have a 225/40. but im sure you can find it somewhere

I have Falken Axenis RT-615's and couldn't be happier with them they have amazing grip it was between the falkens and the star specs for me i just got a better deal on the RT-615's and i am not disappointed in my decision

I think that the Hankook ventus V12 Evo are nice, but not positive. Also, I've heard nothing but great things about the Dunlop star specs.

There have been several reports that the Star Specs are discontinued and there are only a few left. Dunno how true the statements are, but call up TireRack and get the word.

BTW, TireRack has the 225/40/18 Star Specs: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...4WR8Z1SS&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes . Also, I don't think the $50 rebate is still active on these.

Another option is the Kumho Ecsta XS. They're not nearly as good in the wet as the Star Specs, but they're as good or better in the dry. They're pretty soft, a little cheaper than the Star Specs, and come in 225/40/18: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...WR8EXSXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Unless you plan to track the car often I would go for a UHP tire like the Ventus V12 Evo, S Drive, or SPT's. Good wet/dry grip with longer treadlife. You could do MX or Star Specs which are GREAT tires, but they wear FAST. JMHO.

Thank you for all the great recommendations...now I'm wondering if a 245 will fit without working about tearing up the fender. Probably not, I'm guessing, even at stock height. Offset is +35

i had to roll mine and im on rx8's with 245s +50 offset

Thanks for the info :) I am really interested in the Hankook Ventus now...read a number of reviews and it seems to be a really good tire for the price.

18x8

I am using the tire size that's on there right now. I should probably roll my fenders now anyway...I just don't want to pay anyone to do it.

I settled on the Hankooks. Good price locally, good tire wear (I'm not a track fiend so I don't need the softest compound available), good reviews. I'll post up more when I get them next Tuesday.

i would go a bit wider if possible, unless your going for the flush look. just my opinion.

If you're running a 18x8 wheel, I'd go with a 235/40 tire. I ran RX-8's with a 225/40 tire and they looked so small. After those tires were done, I got 235/40 tires and liked them better.

these are 245s on an 8" wheel, the 235s will be somewhere in between what you have and what i do. starspecs run a bit fat, so probably a bit less than halfway between.

Not to nitpick, but I wouldn't recommend the NT01 as a tire to drive regularly on the street with...The NT05 is more directly comparable to the Star Specs. The NT01 is an R-compound, UTQG 100 track tire.
