Best place to drive a CX9

While ours doesn't trump the Arizona desert for beauty, but our family of four did just get back from a week-long trip to the beach in Alabama. That's a pretty good place to drive a CX-9 (not that there's a bad place.) It's the first long family trip on the '9 and was most pleasant. We had outgrown our previous family a car - an 01 Millenia.

The newfound space was amazing - we could take much more necessary stuff. Fuel economy wasn't terrible either (right at 20 mpg) for an 08 GT AWD with the back crammed full.

The RSES kept the kids entertained and the Pandora app for iPhone kept the adults entertained.

I did find out that the hard way that tire pressure monitoring worked, but the car was unloaded by then.

I'm really starting to like the 6 speed AT in this thing. I've been most impressed.

Saw quite a few CX-9s in Orange Beach, Alabama BTW, including my first Galaxy Gray and the metallic black color. Too bad they discontinued those.

I agree anyplace you get to drive a CX9 is good. Sounds like you had a great trip. We love traveling in ours. Nice to have a full car and still have room for stuff in the back.

So the car told you about a flat before it was flat? The system definitely works. Ours went off just by taking a trip that ranged from a mile up (home) to sea level. I never would have guessed the pressure had changed that much.

My post was prompted in another thread when it was questioned how much I could know about snow or ice. I wanted to show that Arizona isn't just cactus, sand, and heat.

Personally, this is my 5th Mazda.

Happy traveling.

Wife and I just returned from a 3800 mile road trip. We thought about taking the CX-9, but decided to take the Cadillac STS. The longest road trip we've taken in the 9 was about 1000 miles r/t ABQ to Denver. I'm sure we would have had no regrets with the 9 on the recent trip, as it is a nice highway cruiser.
