What's the most you've gotten out of a full tank of gas? Set a little record for myself with 304 miles. Not sure if I'll make it to the gas station, but little details. I love cold weather.. :) Forgot to add that it's a stick, and I'm not a Speed Racer kinda driver.

is that an auto? my record is 380 but i only put 12 gallons in so i had 3 left.

380?! Good god man.. how in the world did you do that? And I thought our cars only had a 12 gallon tank?! Where's my manual?! :)

yeah i have a few questions.
I am prretty sure we only have 12 gallon tanks (actually i think it is 12.5 since i have filled before a little over 12.15 gallons). With that in mind, if you do have a 15 gallon tank then 380 is not far fetched. But with 12 gallons, 380 its like almost 32 mpg which i think its diffcult to achieve through one full tank unless you are always going with the wind and downhill.
Anyone with a manual handy give us the tank size please?

On the other hand i did get 315 once but i think i was running on fumes.

i didn't know that the 3 came with a 15gal tank?....the best i ever got was 330 and that was like putting to the gas station.....

^^^^ are you sure?
you do have an SP23, i dont know if those came with a larger tank.

Sure, I will play.
My best is about 350. My most recent tank pissed me off. I filled up on Wednesday cuz my gas light came on. I ONLY HAD 270 MILES! I was pissed. It took 11.5 gallons which means 23.9 mpg

Another question, with our cars being 14.5 gallon tanks, why does my light come on and only take 11.5 gallons?

just checked mazdausa.com and 14.5 gallons is the capacity for all mazda3 models

no kidding.... those bastards...
WTF!!! why does the loight com eon then wehn you have used only like 11.5 (because of it I always thought we only had like 12 or 12.5) so im struggling to find a gas station....
what a joke....
assholes...

Because they want to make sure you don't run out of gas. If you think you're low then you'll fill up. If you really want to know where the needle will be at when your tank is truly empty, wait until you're almost out of gas then drive around your neighborhood until you run out completely. Mark it on the gauge. It goes without saying: just make sure to have some extra gas at hand if you do this.

i got 403 miles and put back 13.12 i remember it... it was all highway driving long trip to upstate new york....

***edit... thinking about it maybe it was 12.89 i can't say for sure now, but i do know it was 403... my gf was goin nuts cause i wouldn't pull over for gas untill i hit 400 miles...

^^^^hahaha
im gonna have to give it a good try, i always fill up at 10 or 11 gallons so i havent seen the full potential

yeah i am pretty sure i was in shock when i saw the gas read out say i put in over 13 gallons... cause i had always filled up when the light came on and it was always 11.5-12 gallons or so... then i looked it up and saw it was 14.5 after my trip and thought i could have gotton another 30 miles out of it...

My best tank was 422 miles (680 kms).

Average is 28.3 mpg.

This attached file has accurate data... the best tank was almost 100% highway at a fuel conserving 100 km/h.

When gas was stupidly expensive, I was driving in fuel conservation mode! (nice'n'slow).

now thats some crazy data loggin man....

Yeah, that is a crazy log you got there. I am using a dinky chart setup like that in Excel, but how the hell did you come up with all those conversions and highlights for lowest and highest values? Do you know how to code in Excel, or did you find some sources online? I gotta know, cuz I would love to track MPG and milage, tuneups, etc like this.

So is there an official average or max amount of miles? I'd like to know when it's reasonable to start panicking about gas once that stupid little light turns on.
