Best Ipod Adapter?

Anyone had personal experience with an Ipod adapter for a MS6? I want to retain the use of the steering wheel controls.

Try the Audiolink. I got it at Revolution performance and it works great. You plug it in to the back of the HU and that's it.

ipod adaptor

I sell both the Peripheral (AAMP of America) and the Axxess (Metra unit) at work. They are both good units, just check their appropriate web sites for compatability and applications. Hope this helps.

Mazda just released an ipod integration module that started shipping like a week and a half ago. Check with your dealer and see if they have it. 149 dollars retail price.

i'll have to second this one. it works well.

Will self-installation of the Mazda ipod integration adapter void the warranty concerning the radio? There is a thread somewhere on the forum that shows exactly how to do it and it does not look difficult at all. I am going to buy one regardless, but I do not want to void my warranty.

it will not void the warranty. the kit comes with very good installation directions from mazda.

I suppose the removal of the HU is the same between the 2005 M6 HU which are the pictures shown in the forum post and the 2006 MS6 HU. Not much difference in the appearance of the 2 but smaller skobs and silver to black. I'd much rather do it myself and save the $$$. Does anyone know if the HU is compatible with the ISO cables of bluetooth car kits so I can install a bluetooth car kit at the same time I do the ipod module so I don't have to pull the HU out twice?

Has anyone installed the mazda ipod integration kit? I was wondering if the wiring was long enough to run it into the center council instead of into the glove box like the instruction say? Also, I just got the car yesterday and haven't even looked at the stereo yet, do you need a key or tool from the dealership to get to the HU? Thanks

You do not need a dealership key... A stereo shop that did my stereo setup had no issues at all... Then again they are a stereo shop... so they might have already had the "special" tools if there are any.... but they aren't mazda dealership only type tools... any stereo shop should have them...

the stereo pops out very easy. a few screws, done. I installed my audiolink the first time in about 10 mins. There are some other well done tutorials on another mazda6 site....if I could post the damn thing I would but the nazi admins won't let me do it here anymore.

Audiolink works very well btw. 119.99 free shipping from rpm.

Any idea where that thread is?

What can you hook the audiolink to if you have sirius satelite connected to the stock radio in the Mazdaspeed 6?

May be the best, but it's far from GOOD

I just got back from having the official Mazda iPod adaptor Dealer installed in my Mazda5 and I am completely disgusted by it. I knew from reading online that "Track information, such as the artist or album name is not displayed on the audio system." What I didn't know is that the screen of the iPod is disabled, too. Basically, you are navigating blind. And while there are plenty of buttons on the head unit that go unused, they decided that the Next Disk and Previous Disk buttons needed to pull double-duty. Pressing Next Disk once goes to the next entry in the current navigation list. Pressing Next Disk twice too quickly (or holding it) changes the current browse mode. So, if you are in Artist Browse mode and you want to skip two artists ahead (assuming you have your artists memorized, since there is no display), you have to press Next...Wait...Next...Wait. If you press Next,Next you have actually entered Album Browse mode, which you are only notified by a number coming up 3 seconds later for less than one second. Almost unusable.

Also, my dealer asked me especially how it was working, since they have tried several times to install one, and this is only the second success they have had. Apparently it is incompatible with the navigation screen (which I don't have) (is their theory).
