Best Intake

I am really wanting some extra zip in my protege but I don't have much money. I need to know what intake is going to be the best for my car, how much it costs, and where to buy. Seems to me that the Injen Racing Development CAI would be the best but im not sure. Anyone know where to get that one for cheap? Let me know if there are any other intakes out there that would be better.
Also thinking of spark plugs and wires so let me know which of those are good, etc, etc.

Actually, their intakes are no different than any other. They just have the lowest pricing.

yeah, lol cheap = lowest pricing

i meant to say cheapest injen cai actually, lol, just realized i didnt

Well an intake won't give you the zip you are probably looking for. I have an Injen CAI and it sounds really good, and helps throttle response, but doesn't give noticable "zip" I'll be selling mine in the spring when i install my turbo :)

The best spark plugs and wires for the money are the stock ones.

Go ahead and pay $80 for a piece of wire and then lie to yourself that it makes a difference.

I would spend the money elsewhere. Like a sway bar.

The caps lock button is located above the shift key... ;) and if you go back and read the first post, he asked about spark plugs and wires too

my bad. just a spontaneous bout of ignorance, i guess. IS THAT BETTER?!? (braindead)

Heh, thanks, sorry if that sounded rude, most of the time my sarcasm comes off as rude, but its not meant to be that way. :)

Just bought mine from Ben. Received it in 3 days after ordering for the same price as Adventon.com. Really awesome.

Having said that however, you might want to do a search about cai vs. sri. There have been alot of discussions about the subject on the forum. Each have their pros and cons, and ultimately it comes down to what you are looking for. But it ultimately is more for cool than it is for go faster.

I had a Ractive SRI. I switched the filter to a K&N inverted cone.

I noticed less noise/drone, a bit less torque, but I gained a bit in mid to high end acceleration so I'm happy with that tradeoff.

That was on my butt dyno too.

As for sparkplugs, when I switched to the Denso Iridiums, I noticed that my idle is still slightly smoother, and that the 1st gear jerkiness is smoothed out a bit.

I have an AEM intake. As for performance, it didn't do anything. As for noise, it did alot. Thinking about puting the stock unit back on.
I have ngk iradium plugs with sparko wires. All this mod did was drop the rpms at idle down just a little. No noticable differance in performance.
In short, if you want performance with reliability, buy a car with a factory installed turbo. (audi S4)
