Hey guys, I'm pretty new to cars. My engine is completely stock at this point. I was wondering, what should be my first mod? What is goin to give me a decent gain for my buck. I'm not planning on going crazy, maybe a few mods over time. I just want something that doesn't cost a ton of money, but I still might feel a difference once it's been installed.

Some of my friends recommend SRI and some CAI. Why do you recommend CAI? And what brand gets your vote?

Bigger turbo!!

No I'm just kidding, that's the last thing you want to do. SRI vs CAI doesn't make a difference really, and brand doesn't either. I have an Injen myself and I like it. Listen to the previous post. Intake, exhaust, intercooler, and SS AFC are a great starting point.

first mod i would do if i were you is the rear motor mount cuz i bet you its torn allready. Than get an injen cuz they sound cool and thats what i have lol

I would save the money for a CAI or SRI and buy an FMIC kit and make an intake with some of the piping. That's what I did and it worked great, have an excellent running car that sounds awesome and the front IC looks killer. I spent ~$200 for the ebay FMIC kit and a BOV and made an intake for the cost of a filter and coupler, which was about $20. I personally run an SRI and don't see the point of a CAI when there is an intercooler anyway.

THe biggest weakness on the MSP is the intercooler and midpipe. The stock intercooler drops a couple psi from its inlet to outlet, and the midpipe has a 1" pipe connecting the catalytic converters.

Replacing either of these is the best place to start, and then get some kind of tune and you are good to go.

3" turbo back exhaust. more noticeable than a fmic or intake from my experience.
