lol.. nah, that's what robbing banks is for. It was about $5000 msrp when it first came out.

I wish I was stupid rich like that to make silly expensive impulse buys. I'd own everything!

hey guys, for the most part all of these cameras are going to be about the same. I'd go to CC or BB and play with them to see what I like. Just because it has good specs on paper, it might be a pain to use..

I was going to get a Sony before, but after going to the store to play with it, I hated the feel and the way to access the features. I ended up getting a Kodak. DX7630(?)

But this will be my next camera: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25215# (currently sporting a D70) Price has come down on it, Only $3300. I have mixed feeling about the fact that Nikon still doesn't use a full framed sensor like Canon. But I got too much invested in lenses to go to the 'other side'.

My opinion, Nikon should never have gone digital. They suck at it. Always overpriced and mediocer performance. Minolta,Fujifilm, cannon and panasonic is where its at. Kodak SLRs are decent and if you can eat the $23,000 price tag the 22mp Hasselblaud is very impressive.

^ I've heard the oposite. I love my Nikon. easy to use, and takes great pics

User Interface = Kodak

-Although in doing research the new Panasonic Lumix series is also one of the best out there along with the Casio Exilim series -My Casio has awesome battery life (400+ pics on a single charge), a beautiful 2.7" lcd and very is very fast.

About Nikon

They take wonderful pictures. most cameras do. but the options for them are limited. The SLRs are great but my photography nut friends and I have had better expiriences with the other brands. Much more bang for less money. However if nikon could market them at a more reasonable proice they would be more apealing but they have been trying to compete with Contax and are doing it buy selling comparable products to cannon, minolta, pentax, and kodak yet pricing it with the contax line. The reason they are still ppopular is because they are the big name in cameras. same thing goes with sony. they both are big names and sell because of thier reputation. They are still compairable and somtimes beaten by less popular brands. . Most professional photographers are switching to Fugifilm and cannon. they are far better and cost considerably less for what you are getting. I have always been most parcial to minolta because I have gotten more complements about image quality from my 3.2mp Z1 than I have with any other camera I have owned(I hardly ever use my Diamage 7i. I'm hoping my fujifilm will be a good replacement for the z1 ( gave it to my sister) and y casio will be my new backup. I'm keeping the Minolta diamage 7 because it is my only SLR and I do the photos for weddings every once and a while.

Nikon is good, they use very good optics in their lenses. But, Panasonic and Sony use the best lenses. Sony uses Zeiss lenses, and Panasonic uses Leica lenses which is my favorite, I have two leica instruments i use for work, one is a $60,000 total station and the other is a $100,000 GPS system. NOTHING beats a Leica!

I'm saving up for a Canon EOS but I just got a Kodak Easyshare C315 as a present. 5MP and I like the knob on top, makes it easy to switch from pictures to video quickly. Nice and small too, I like being able to fit it in any pocket. Plus you can delete a picture right after you take it if it doesn't come out.

It's not all about the lenses. Panisonic is accually designed by leica. panisonic just manufactures them.

i wanted ot get an SD300 for my g/f based on my price range and the research i did. unfortunately, they're tought find. ended up with a Konica Dimage X50 for ~$250 at Costco. 5.0MP. 2.8x optical zoom, 2" LCD.

i really like it; it's ready to take a picture almost imemdiately after opening the cover, and it's got enough features to make it useful, it's intuitive enough that you're not overwhelmed.

I know, but if you have bad optics and the image isnt captured right, you will never get a proper picture.
