I need a $200 head unit that plays MP3's and has an AUX in. The car stereo place I went to was talking up the Sony CDX-F5700.

Alpine's AUX adapter has been on backorder for over a month (so they say)...would it be worth the wait??

and what's the deal with DSO??

Sony is overpriced, flashy, and has terrible SQ...among other things. Alpine is just overpriced!

Actually, when you consider what you're getting with an Alpine, it's generally only slightly overpriced.

Yeah sony blows ass chunks. Go with Alpine man. Only way to go if you like sound quality. I'm getting a 9827 next month. Damn thing even matches my car's color It's a great unit.

I cleaned the contacts of the detachable face and it worked fine for a while, but now it's acting up. The green hue (in the background) is lit, but no display. I can't change stations and whatever. I have to pop off faceplate and then push it back in and it works fine. I guess I am stuck with it 'til it dies because I have no money!
