bent rims

this morning i woke up with a flat tire.....i don't know if it was the bent rim but there was no air at all....dam it...i need to get it checked today....i think it might be a leak from the rim sinces its a 3 piece rim. i don't know....the tires seem pretty new since they still have alot of treads lift.

i know this is a silly/dumb question but can i straighten my rims myself with like a rubber hammer or something? haha...heat it up then pound on it...

I tryed beeting mine. it only made it look worse. I would not trust a rim that was heeted up by anyone besides a pro.

haha...okay i wont try it then....i was just kidding about beating it....i found out that the rim that was flat wasn't the bent rim...right now i am a bit comfused to why it was flat cause i took it to the tire shop and they dipped it into water and there was no leak at all....oh well....and this morning it was still full of air....

replace the rim or the tires? i am probably going to wait till tomorrow morning if the air goes out and right now i am keeping an eye out and checking the air every now and then to see if it is leaking air.

I have filed twice with my insurance on bent rims and filed claims with state of ohio on conditions of roads. Both times worked out fine. Ran over a huge paver brick on the freeway and blew out 2 tires and one rims was completely f'd up. The state of ohio was on a railroad track that was in horrible disrepair. Ohio was a freaking pain in the ass and finally went to insurance and had them deal with it.

I bought some MSP rims off another member here on the forums. Somehow (I won't go into this) two of the wheels were bent, one visibly and the other not so much. I obviously wanted them repaired so I did the same thing you're looking to do. Well after 6 weeks, $120+, and numerous angry phone conversations I finally got my rims back. I haven't gotten them balanced since, but they looked straighter. I've hit some many other large things in the road I really don't care about these anymore. So, IMO, just go get some new rims...

i bent 3 rims, wrecked 3 tires (bubble in front, shredded sidewalls on both rears), blew both driver's side struts, broke both front endlinks, and a rear strut mount driving home on a pothole mine-field infested gravel road with "dust control" on it. the county is dealing with their insurance company on it right now. soooooo i'm lookin for some 16x7 rims if anyone has a suggestion. the roads in this town suck too much for 17's
