Well a little more than bent, actually...

Jan 2nd I was going to work, at the last minute discovered the main gate to the mil base was closed... pulled a U-turn ad headed for the other gate on the other side of town.
Was pondering this (Why closed, it's not a fed holiday or anything?) when I turn L off the highway at a non-protected green...
Then realized (too late) somebody was coming. This is a 50 mph highway, I totally misinterpereted her speed... had that moment "well I'm commited now, might as well try and make it through"... so I gunned it to try and let her miss me...
BAD IDEA.
Wham, she (Scion tC) T-boned me, all I remember is white (airbags), smoke (propellant) and glass. By the time I stopped moving, I'd spun a complete 180 degress, w/ my back end sliding into the front of a nice huge Dodge 1500, she slid back into my front.
No injury at all here, she was having an asthma attack from the propellant (but had an inhaler).

Looking back, feel pretty lucky I wasn't hurt, and feel really bad about the whole thing.... 16 yrs driving, first time I've ever blatantly caused an accident like this.
Oh well.

Finally after a painful 2 week ordeal, have an agreement from insurance, ~$9k + TTL fees. That took a lot of convincing, the car was immaculate and only 64k ('03.5). I even convinced them to cover the AuxMod lol.

So now I'm looking for a new car... debating another '03 P5, vs maybe up to a Mazda3 '04 or even 05 if I can swing it, 5dr 5spd a must.

Oh, and if anybody is the Baltimore area, and needs a drivetrain - I know where you can get the whole car cheap soon, w/ VERY DETAILED records (e.g. every gas fillup!) everything ran perfect even after the accident....

hey good thing ur ok :D
and good luck on the new buy man.

and sorry but this is a must asked question to every totaled car..
is there gona be a part out?
and u gota pm.

Unless I suddenly get a lot of offers for drivetrain parts that REALLY make it worthwhile, no.
I've parted out vehicled before and it sucks... currently I have only a small 1 car garage w/o heat too, even more suckage.

If somebody wants to throw an offer on the whole thing, I'll consider, *assumeing* it's > my cost to buy it back form the ins. company.
FYI car is bone stock (save auxmod), just very well kept condition.

Glad to hear you're ok! Pretty good hit right there... Another P5 who offered its life to save a human being! God bless this car! (bow)

For your next car, I would stick with the P5 because it's much more fun to drive than the 3, and much better looking IMO!

I agree there, I much prefer the style of the Pro5, that is why I am gonna buy a Pro5, and I can get an 04 Mazda3 hatch for less money than the Pro5 go figure.

Pat.

9k! You did well. Sorry about the accident, but glad you're okay. I would go for another P5 if I was you, unless of course you can afford an MS3. MSPs are running cheap right now, you could probably pick one up for a couple more grand than what you got for insurance. Good luck!

yeah, for just a litte more than 9k you could get a MSP in decent condition. You should look in the FS sections for what is currently availible.

I really like the 5 door hatch, so the only way I could go MSP is a Speed3 - which would be AWESOME - but that's a rare vehicle around here. Plus I really need better gas mileage, and not sure I trust myself w/ that fun/power lol.
My insurance is gonna go up enough as it is!

Oh yeah, re: payout, my experience is that if you hold out enough and prove that you're not an idiot and have good rationale, they'll agree to a reasonable price.
