dose/did anyone have a problem wit what i think is a belt squeek? it only does it at low rpms and when i turn the car off u pretty much here it! the car have 4500 miles on it! idk or get it.

if u just lightly tap the gas to bump the rpm a little bit u here and if u drive at very low rpm it does it! any one wit anything thing like this?

I have posted on this same subject, so far just alot of opinions and no facts. Some think it is a belt and other think it is part of the exhaust or a heat shield. So far nobody has an answer, hopefully some one will help diagnose this issue.

have you gone to the dealer yet? If not then take it in and have them listen for it with you there or show them how to get it to happen so they can confirm it. They get paid to figure things like this out and you paid good money for the car so let them spend their time resolving the issue.

yea i agree with u there! i am takin it back wed probley but i wanted to see if it was a random thing or an every car thing! that all

took my car in for this problem they said it was the heat sheild but the noise was still there. the second time I took it in they had it for two days so they could replace all the seals in the exhaust system and they also had to use some "special grease" with smells really bad but the noise is gone.

My car used to have what I considered a brake creak or groan, going at very low speeds. e.g. letting the clutch out with no throttle to coast up in line at a light or something similar. Sounded like the pads hanging up and creaking (stick/slip) as the rotor crept past. Not sure if that might be what you're hearing -- it's not as high pitched as a belt squeak. From what I've read about others' similar complaints, it tends to go away on its own after a while. I haven't driven my MS3 in quite a while but I'm pretty sure mine's gone away. ~1800 miles

i had a very light belt squeak, but never paid much attention to it. last weekend i noticed a tapping sound coming from the belt side of the motor. had one of my techs look at it, and turns out i need a belt tensioner. anyone else needed one?

So far no one has commented on wether or not this was a belt issue or had a tensioner replaced. However that is interesting that you had it replaced already. Has the noise come back at all?

Did they replace the part? and if so has it come back as of yet?

they replaced the tensioner and no more noise.

Can you look on invoice and tell us the part number of the part? By the way thank you for that information, I am sure this will be very helpful to others like myself.

By the way what year was your car again?

I have been posting this in all squeek related threads and hope that it helps someone out. I think the source of the noise on my car was the intake. I had a tech hold it while i turned the car off and the noise went away. I haven't got rid of the noise yet but i think that the problem (at least for me anyway). Hope it helps

I have the mazdaspeed. I also never had the stock air box so i can't really compare the two and don't know if it make the sound with it.
