BELL TURBO UPDATE "READ ASAP"

I just spoke with Corky Bell "Owner of Bell Engineering". He also wrote a comprehensive book on turbos. I guess you could say he is his own acredited source. Anyway, we spoke for about 25 minutes. He was extremely informative, nice and very willing to help us out. This is what he told me:

"When constructing any turbo kit for a car, the manufacturer must first create castings, harnesses, and a bunch of other equipment needed to fit the car at hand. This takes time and, of course, money. He said that no manufacturer wuold be willing to produce a turbo kit, unless the market was there. I informed him of this website and told him to check it out so he could see for himself, how many people are actually interested in a turbo kit. This is what he told me would be needed in order to get one into production:

A car (mazda MP3)
$5000.00 (for castings and such)
About 2-3 months for the first kit to be completed.
He said if 25 people would put a $200.00 deposit down, he would begin the production of a turbo kit. He did not say anything about psi or anything else, but the 200.00 that someone sends in would go toward their overall cost of the kit. He estimated that it would cost between $2700.00 and $3100.00 dollars for the completed kit. Anyone can reach him at Bellengineering.com

Let's do it!!!!!!!!
I have my $200.00 ready.

He would like to see 50 people willing to buy also.

The market is here, it is their choice to make one or not. We shouldn't give them money in advance, unless the product is already being made and tested. See, you are paying $200 for nothing. psi? You don't know. Exact cost? You don't know. What if they are charging $6000 for a 2psi turbo at the end? Are you still willing to buy it?

Look how much Protg is down the street right now, just like the civic. Soon or later, some companies will make turbo and supercharges for us. Remember, they are going to make PROFIT out of this, it is their money, and they should be to one who seek for the market and take the risk.

My .2 cents
And yes, I will not pay 200 for a non-exist turbo.

well, i just received a mail from a peep that lives in san antonio and owns a p5, so i talked to him about the bellengineering turbo, he went and talked to mr. bell but after he saw the engine bay he was asking 1600 more of what he was asking before....

i believe mr. bell is trying to charge WAY too much, our best bet its to try with another company, and i will suggest tripoint engineering, they already have 2 mp3 and are making parts for it.

hey guys, not positive, but wouldnt they also be making a kit for the normal protege too. which there are an assload of.

If they made a kit for the MP3, it would fit every Protege 2.0 liter out there. And if they did piggy back systems to run the fuel it would work on every Protege 2.0 liter.

Everyone forgets this when they want MP3 parts. What's even better thought is thatthe turbo would bolt onto the Protege 1.8 liter as well (they have the same head)...Lots of 3rd gen Proteges it could work on...
