BEGI Owners, a Test!

Hey 1st MP3, do you have an O2 simulator hooked up? Just wondering. Thanks.

Dave

I have been told by a member of the board and Mazda tech that the hole in the trottle plate will F-up things pretty bad.

I do not have a signal modifier, nor do I plan on getting one. Seems that tricking sensors ment to run the car is best done as least as possible.

Running 6 psi of boost at a 14.7:1 O2 ratio is an even worse idea. The stock sensor and ECU are expecting your car to be naturally aspirated and they are making sure the fuel is delivered appropriately. It's trying to make the car run best by delivering enough fuel for atmospheric pressure, not 50% more than that.

If you don't want to trick the sensor, you probably shouldn't have installed the turbo....

I wasn't refering to the FM peice. they are talking about something that totaly removes the stock o2 sensor

Ah, to stop the CEL from the lack of a cat. I getcha.

I'd love to hear how well they work. OEM computers are tricky things. They'll sometimes fire ONE rich cylinder just to check that the O2 sensors are working...

i had this problem and i dont have a turbo. i switched to a optima battery and i have not had the problem since. i think it is a electrical problem not because of your turbo. my car shut off a couple of times at stop signs and in traffic. just turning on my heater all the way almost caused it to stall. but it seems to be fxd now

Any improvements on your idle yet?

Dave

I found that The idle issue is made drasticly worse by Exhuast leaks.
I was missing a nut on my down pipe and once I replaced it and tightened everything it go alot better but did not disapear.

I have more destictly classified the problem as:
Stalling if put in neutral during engine acceleration.

If I put in the clutch or go into nuetral before the engine starts to break on its own then the car will stall.

For me a small exhuats leak before the first O2 sensor was cuasing return to idle problem of a very noticable nature. However it is coming aparent that damn near all Proteges have this problem but on a less noticable scale until you need to make an emergency stop and the cars idle crashes to almost stalling.

i have confirmed it in 2 Turbo Proteges, me and Pro 5, several Wagons and sedans some with intakes others stock and the crowning WTF, ALL THE MSP seem to have the same damn problem!!!

At a first glance it may not seem like a big issue but when you have to brake hard from going 70 or you will end up driving into a tractor trailer truck, when the idle crashes the brakes aren't powered correctly anymore now is the steering.
I have almost been killed twice now from this!

It never happend to me coming from high speed. More the opposite, if I'm gradualy slowing down It wants to turn off.

1st MP3 in NH IM me with AIM and I'll talk to you about ambients turbo es. As for the negative battery/brake pedal. You only have to depress the pedal once and hold it for a second or two. Doing this purges the remaing electricity outta the system. His car definetly has an off throttle stumble..... IM me.

It happend sometime to me in AutoX race. Sometime the end of the AutoX track is what they call a buss stop and coming full throttle in first or second gear, you have to stop hard in that cone box section. On those type of race, the engine stall every time at the end!

But beside that, the idle is perfect anytime.

whats your AIM handle?

Its not coming to a normal stop from highway speed that will do it.
Its when emrgency stopping so you never take your foot off the clutch.

I used to have the same damn problem when I first bought my car and it was just barely broken in, id say around 1000 miles on the clock, but I wasnt necessarily emergency stopping, I would just come up to a red light on my way to work in the mornings with the clutch pressed in and it would stumble bad then pick back up, i can remember on one accasion the battery light popped on, it did it at the same damn light every morning too and after that it was fine the rest of the day, it quit probably about 2 weeks after it started doing it. I think about the only mod I had was the injen, but cant exactly remember its been so long and now I have 17K on the car.
