This thread appears to be quite old...from the beginning of MS3 time!
How are the Begi intakes holding up? I'm considering purchasing one.
As far as the BEGi goes, when I took it off the car I was reminded of how shoddy the workmanship is on that thing...
- The holes in the bottom of the box that are used for mounting it to the unibody did not line up correctly, causing me to have to cross-thread one of the "longnuts" used to mount it beyond repair. If i'm ever gonna re-install it (not likely) or sell it i'm going to need to get a new one of those...
- Also, the thing is a major PITA to install/uninstall compared to the Cobb box due to its arrangement of its mounting points/hardware.
I can't really tell a definitive difference performance wise, though I think that when I get on it in the lower RPM range the repsonse seems more linear and less "shuddery", if that makes sense. When I first put it on (the Cobb) it seemed like the car was faster, but I hadn't reset the ECU yet and that might have had something to do with it. Regardless, the performance difference between the two is negligible, at best.
I mounted the Cobb intake using some 3m foam tape around the mount and then added some zipties to reduce the flex, but I don't know if that'll be enough to keep it from breaking the batt. box eventually...we'll just have to see.
If I had to do it all over again I'd avoid the BEGi box. The crappy build-quality along with their decidedly less-than-stellar customer service is enough to keep me away from their products in the future.
