I live in West Chester-- and BAM lives no more than 20 mins from me. Everything on Viva la Bam is so blown out of proportion; every crazy stunt, every prank (for the most part)... it's all done purely for the show. Great example was this segment. It leaves you with the impression that he just randomly decided to have billy idol cut a gaping hole in the roof of his lamborghini. According to mike-- the owner of exotic customs in WC (the shop Bam and Ryan Dunn get their custom stereo and car work done at-- I'm there occasionally), Bam had decided some time prior that he wanted a custom moonroof put in. Billy idol actually cut the hole within the designated area. If you saw the show air, you'll see at some point later that the lines are perfectly straight and the corners perfectly rounded. Like I said, it's all done to make you think Bam lives like a rockstar. Although he does to an extent, he's a normal guy in real life.

Remember the episode where he got the "notice of eviction" from the township for turning his property into a carnival with elephants and what not? The eviction never happened. Bam was actually in the process of moving (to his converted farmhouse). They needed an explanation for the show, and figured that would sound more bad-ass. How do I know? I asked him one night at Kildare's.

its mostly staged, and 99% of the stuff he does MTV foots the bill so dont get all freaked.

that rollercoaster that was in his backyard? yeah thats blue diamond park, and Im about a mile away from it right now, unless his backyard is the state of delaware. Remember when he set his hummer on fire? yeah they shot that like 3 times because it didnt "look" right.... My friends have "appeared" on the show and Ive met a couple of em here and there... Rake is a really cool in person plus the fact that hes smart as hell...

The backyard of his old house was fairly big. The backyard of his new farm house in Chadd's Ford IS as big as the state of deleware. That's actually precisely why he moved. He and his family wanted more privacy, which would explain the wall he had built around his property. As unbelievable as it is, he's told me that occasionally he comes downstairs in the mornings and there will be random people sitting on his couch. They're all down to earth in real life. Rake is very cool, but he's the butt end of a lot of their jokes.

The whole thing with Don Vito is also extremely exaggerated. The crap that April, Phil and Don Vito put up with is all part of the agreement. I'm sure they think it's a small price to pay for getting to have such active roles in the show, and getting to have such a famous son/nephew. Although it really doesn't happen much in real life, you can see in certain parts of the show the good sportsmanship of April and Phil wearing thin.

There was an interview with Ryan Dunn in Sportscar a year or so ago. He said that all the stuff they do in that show has been laid out and coordinated ahead of time. But they do a pretty good job of making it feel like it's all spur of the moment. Regardless, it's still a pretty fun show to watch.

Rake scares me.
