In the march 2003 issue of turbo magazine on page 48 they review a balance shaft removal kit for the sentra se-rs motor(qr25de motor) which on the dyno shows a gain at peak of 7.6 whp and 6.7 lb-ft in torque. The installation is very simple and only costs $80! I'm not to educated on FS-DE Motor but is something like this possible for our engine? The strong point of this mod seems to be the power gained in the lower part of the powerband. Here is the article:

The enemy of the reciprocating assembly is mass and friction. Mass can be hard to reduce because strength can be compromised, but friction offers a wndow of opportunity with little downside. Knife-edged cranks are carved like a wing to better cut through the oil. Less resistance means more power and torque.
Jim Wolf Technology has discovered a way to reduce mass and improve the friction dynamics of the Nissan Sentra SE-R QR25DE powerplant. This method in question involves deleting the OE balance shaft and replacing it with a custom oil scraper/baffle kit. The shaft tips the scales at 7 pounds; it's gone, replaced by the baffle scraper to reduce resistance in the crankcase.
The Jim Wolf Technology Balance Shaft Removal Kit was tested out on the company's dyno and it delivered the goods. At peak, a 7.6-jump in horsepower and a 6.7 lb-ft increase in torque were realized. But the true benefit of the product was down low in the rev range where the crank must first struggle to get going. At 2700 rpm, 9.9 lb-ft of torque was gained. The "before" graph did not have data from 2300 to 2700 rpm, but the delivered from 146.4 to 151.9 lb-ft, which is a lot of grunt that low in the powerband. The horsepower gain occurred at 5900 rpm, where the kit showed an 8.3-whp increase.
The kit installs by taking off the oil pan and securing the baffle and scraper with the provided spacers. It's straightforward, and for $80, is a lot of bang for the buck."
