Bad (pre) Cat

i have the same code going right now in my p5 and i know for sure its the cat, as i just replaced the wire, coils and plugs. I personally find that its the cat clogged up because the car itself sounds different under load, its shifts randomly which is causing terrible fuel millage. Plus i notice a drop in power some what.

IMO, cat issues revolve around how stupid rich this car runs plus the thin weak ass rings adding more carbon to the mix with blowby oil burning and clogging the fuckers up.

I agree that our cars like to run rich, but IMHO, it's usually a misfiring ignition coil or bad plug wires that seem to ruin the cats on our cars. Regardless of the cause, I think it can be agreed that the cats in our cars are notoriously weak and susceptible to contamination. :(

Knock on wood, no misfires or bad wires/coils but have had to replace one hi flo cat due to soot/carbon once since I still have not hacked the ecu wiring up to install the MPI tuner with NA module & my AF gauge/wb o2....YET. Even have a 2nd OBX header with extra bung for the wb just hanging around doin nothin but takin up garage space, lol. Some Tacoma prerunner showed up and has been gettin most of the mod action for the past year. Hopefully I can get around to the MPI before another cat bites it, lol. Car doesn't get driven that much any more tho since nasty truk is daily drvr now. Building a new house this year didn't do much to alleviate the project list either, just the opposite, lol.............
