n a surprise announcement, Head Engineer Eepuriru Fuuru said that Mazda has decided to discontinue use of the RENESIS engine in the RX-8. They have retooled the Rotary Engine Plant to produce a new Mazda Quad overhead cam V8 for use in the car. Today, Mazda re-started production of the RX-8 in Hiroshima, Japan, after the factory that was damaged in last December's fire was repaired. Under secret development for over 8 years Eepuriru-san stated the new V8 engine was derived from the Ford 302 used in the Mustang. After the plant fire, Ford/Mazda execs decided it was the perfect time to change Mazda's stance on the Rotary Engine, with this decision, the RX-8 will now be named the VX-8.
