Bad MPG Completely Stock

Right now I don't have any CEL's.
Maybe if the EGR valve was stuck open then I would def get some crappy mileage.
I guess I'll have to check the FSM to see what the Open vs Closed voltage/resistance is.

Thanks I didn't think of the EGR.

Wurf - Try breathing through a small straw and then through a hose.
That's exactly what the engine is doing.

This is a strange problem indeed. I have 77k on mine and I still avg 26.6. I don't think seafoam would do anything with only 20k mile or whatever on it. I say go with the basic tuneup and change the intake, but hell 10 mpg means something is seriously not right. The soot in the exhaust pipe is pretty normal unless your bumper is like rice rocket black from it.

Ok, so yesterday I FINALLY got around to Seafoaming my car and a buddys car.
We did his 50K on it, and got some White smoke and some Black smoke.
Then we did my car 16K and lots of White smoke, but I also got some BLUE smoke.
Which would be OIL..... no bueno.

My buddy noticed some smoke coming from the engine bay and he found that my Hot Pipe (rubber coupler from the turbo to the IC) was on but slightly off.
So I pulled the IC off and stuck my finget in the pipe and it was totally clean, unlike his.

Put it back on and the car runs smoother and it doesn't have that dip in power while transitioning into boost. I thought the dip was just how it was bc I haven't driven any other MS3's.

So I'm taking a 2 hr drive today and I'll see what kind of MPG i get, hopefully this fixes the problem!!!

Hey guys MPG has improved, I guess mainly due to driving style change.
Driving like a Grandma, shifting at 3K and shifting as high as possible I'm getting 20mpg. About 250 Max miles per tank. Usually like 11 to 12 gallons (when the light comes on)

Jasnall- do you drive all hwy? I drive mostly city little bit of hwy but with traffic so I guess that really doesn't count.
What mods do you have?
How do you drive?

250 miles per tank is pretty decent on this car chigga. Mostly city especially.

I can get 250-280 per tank fast highway, but speed is not constant thanks to a) ******* rubberneckers b) ******* tourists c) ******* snowbirds d) ******* left lane nazis

I thought it was a 15 gallon tank.
It's 14.

I drive 80% highway at 70-80 MPH. My trip computers says 26.7 mpg avg. I get 300-330 a tank, I fill up when the things below E. I drive pretty normal, use cruise control whenever I'm on the highway. I jump on it every once in awhile.

Change the oil. The previous owner might have used a different weight also
