I'm back into the Mazda family! I had a MSP a while ago, traded it in for a soccer mom SUV, and now I'm back to Mazda.
I picked up a '15 Mazda3 i Grand Touring 5-door with 9 miles on it.

I have some question that I'm hoping you all can help me with.

I was playing around with the maintenance setting on the "Infotainment" area and am curious how that works.
It looks like I manually set up when I want the service light to come on for oil changes and tire rotations?
This seems strange to me as most newer cars do that on their own. When the oil needs done, it lets you know.

Next question is when should I do the 1st oil change? The manual says 7,500 miles, does this go for the 1st oil change, too?

And lastly, do any of you happen to know if my warranty will be voided if I do my own oil change?

Thanks all...Glad to be back!

I believe all of the oil change info is in the manual. It doesn't do a computer adjusted oil change schedule, so it's not based on your driving habits or anything like in other cars. The 1st oil change is always tricky as the manual always say it's just on a regular interval like all the other changes, but most people recommend it within the first 1k miles.

Does anyone happen to know if changing my own oil will void my warranty? I wouldn't imagine it would. I'd call the dealership but I know they will just bulls*** me.

DIY oil change does not void your warranty provided that:
1) you do it right every time
2) you use quality filters and oil
3) you keep your records and receipts
4) you do it on schedule that Mazda approves (see manual)
