I have a new daughter, born 3 weeks ago...I'll eventually know how you felt then...can't wait.

Congratulations. I have 2 girls and I can't wait until they're teenagers so that I can be the only male in the house with three hormonal females.

Thanks! And congrats to you too! Sleepless nights are in for you too.

My daughter was born on the morning of Nov. 10th (at 1:24am). It went very fast compared to my first born. Had the P5 revvin' quite high on the way to the hospital (cool)

One of the few times your wife will approve of you driving fast!! (drive)

Well my 4 year old daughter sits in her Craco car seat on the passenger side behind my wife in our P5. We even had my wife's best friend and her 13 year old daughter along with all their luggage. They flew in from Mississippi and we had all 5 of us comfortably in the P5 for the 260 mile ride home.

It was lugging up the mountain just a bit with all the extra weight, but we all fit.

Have you consider getting yourself a Subaru Legacy Outback wagon or a Subaru Forester instead of a minivan?
And if you insist getting a minivan, those Toyota and Honday minivans are pretty decent.

I would take a Subaru Wagon in a second! Especially the WRX wagon. But you have to understand, this isn't what David wants to buy for his family. This is what Joanna (my wife) wants to buy for the family. If she wants a minivan (and we can afford to get one) then I must get here a minivan.

We had custody of my nephew for a year and he fit fine in the back. Once they get out of the infant car seat, everyone fits great. When we bought the car we put him in the back and thought, "this car will be great." It has been great but now she wants something else.

One day, I will get a car for myself and it will be in the mazda family (p5 or mp3). Until that day comes, family first.

We looked at new toyota vans. WOW......I could get used to driving one.....but I would never forgive myself for spending 35k for a MINIVAN. That is 15k away from my blessed Corvette.

Have you and Joanna looked at the Dodge Magnum? There is plenty of room in those suckers and the non-hemi powered versions go for 23 or 24K. Also check out the new Ford Freestyle - it's supposed to be a van/suv kind of vehicle. Of course this is assuming you're looking at new vehicles. BTW - If you're looking at used Caravans at all, I would limit it to 2001 and later. IIRC, 2001 was the first year of the transmission redesign. 2000 and prior had somewhat suspect trannies, though lots of folks had them with no probs.

Don't get a dodge or a subaru, well maybe a subaru but please no dodge, look at an suv, thats what we did. I have a 02 p5 and she has an 03 tribute. The car seat and all her junk fits perfect in it and its good on gas great in winter (if you get snow). Just try it take one for a ride, you just might like it

You had a bad experience with a Dodge?

Well, I'm now an owner of a 2004 MPV LX. I traded the p5 for 10,000 and bought the MPV for 17,900 with 27k on it. The payments were worked out to being 310/month for 72 months w/ 6.6%. The APR is a little high but it works into what I wanted. I also made them certify the van for 100k warranty. Wife is happy.....therefore, I am happy. The MPV is the sportiest minivan available....that counts for something....i think.

Congrats! That is a good trade in amount too. 100K mile warranty rocks. The good thing, you will probably not even need it. You know, you can still mod the MPV. Some later P5 rims or possibly 3 rims would be a good start. The wife will love a header for it! :)

I am just glad you did not get that Chevy piece of crap!

Well, the ES version of the MPV comes w/ some pretty hot 17 inch rims. But ours is 16 inch. I like the way it looks.

I did notice that the exhaust looks to be about the same as the p5. I could see a mazdaspeed muffler tip sticking out the back. I haven't yet gathered the courage to mention this to Joanna.

Just tell her that the better sound from the new muffer has better effect on putting the kids to sleep on your car.
:D

Ha......

"Honey, the turbo would be a perfect investment! If something happens to the baby, we will need to get to the hospital as fast as possible!!"

I have a friend, he drives a BMW 5 series and he has a 1 year old son.
Once I have a rid on his car with he baby along and he drove real fast.
I was worry about his driving would hurt his kid or something.
But turns out whenever he slow down because of traffic or stop at the red light, his kid start complaining or even crying. But whenever he speed up again, the kid stop the complain and the cry immediately and stay quiet as long as the car is moving fast. Go figure.....

Dude, congrats on the new addition!! My 1st child was born after my wife and I had been together for 17 years, and married 10. Everyday lil' Daisy just blows me away with her cuteness...I can't even believe how blessed I feel. It's tough waking up to feed and change diapers, but the payoff is like a million-fold.

Here's a pic of Daisy. She's about 1 1/2 now. (hippy)
