AWR Oil Pan Fitment Issues - Pics!

Alright. Mines got a 0.5" cutout. Considering these are hand-fabbed, I'm sure there is a little variance here and there ...

Thanks Bala! Tekkie, can you take a pic of how close your pan is to that piece on the pass. side? That would be great!

I know they're handmade, but they should use a template to cut them out from, so they should be relatively accurate.

is grinding the part thats touching the pan not an option?
it looks as if it could be grinded down a little bit, maybe 1/4"?

you definetly cannot grind it down that much its probably made out of 1/16th or 1/8th

my pan was touching with that plastic plug in there, I took it out and its still almost touching but I have all AWR motor mounts so its not going anywhere

EDIT: On second thought your probably talking about the tube, that would make sense and yeah that would probably work

So I'm wondering if leaving it touch that plug is better, or if I take it out and the engine moves that 1/8" or whatever it would bang on the metal... Have you had that problem?

the oil pan will be destroyed if it gets stressed, there would be alot of torque on that and I am pretty sure the welds will break

my motor barely moves at all, but like I said I have all 4 awr motor mounts in there as well so I am sure that helps, its not banging that I can tell

call Tony at AWR and ask him what the deal is

i went out to take a better look at the clearance i have. it appears that installing the awr rear mount has moved the engine back 1/16"-1/8" to where the pan is touching that plug. is it possible that it's the awr rear mount that causes the clearance issue?
ps. mine has the cutout, next time i'm under the car i can take a measurement if it's needed.

Wierd, so you had clearance, but when you put your AWR mount in, it closed it up?

I didn't have the cutout on mine either. With that clearance I would have been fine.

ya, i wish i had taken a pic before the rear mount. there wasn't much clearance but there was definitely space in between and now none.

ok I must be smoking some good shiat because I looked at my car today, mine has the slot taken out, and I still have that plug in there, the oil pan is basically resting up against it.

the reason I was under it was because I used the stock bolts and they are not long enough and I had a leak, I replaced all the bolts and voilla issue solved I could actually tighten it up good

I had a cork gasket in there so maybe the extra thickness threw it off. I just got new bolts that were the same length but they were threaded all the way to the top, the stock ones are not threaded on the top about 1/8' or so

so on mine the stock ones would start to strip without even much pressure, now its much better

My motor is back in and I have plenty of clearance. Probably an 1/8" or so. And I run all AWR mounts, including side inserts.

I installed my rear AWR mount this weekend and my clearance has almost all disappeared. I used all of the slop in the holes and now have just a couple mm clearance to the rubber cap. I had about 10 mm with the stock rear mount.
